Gochisousama

In Japan, there are a lot of aisatsu to remember. Aisatsu are kind of like greetings, but overall are just the polite and proper thing to say in different situations. Before we eat, we put our hands together and say “itadakimasu” which is like thanks for the food and the people who made it. When we finish eating, we say “gochisousama deshita” which means thanks for the meal we received. Mommy and Daddy are teaching me these things now that I’m starting to eat solid foods. I like the first one because it means I get food! I’m not a fan of the second one. Don’t get me wrong, I am very thankful for the meal I received. It’s just that when I say “gochisousama deshita“, it means there is no more food. I do not like it when there is no more food.

My “gochisousama deshita” is usually followed by a lot of cries for more food. I still haven’t seemed to realize that I still get nursed after my solid foods. I think I’ll pick up on it someday.
