Sadly no excursion for me

I woke up quite early in the morning and my fever had gotten worse. I woke up crying at around 4 and Daddy picked me up and was shocked by how hot I was. He had a hard time getting me back to my sleep because I was so uncomfortable with my fever. He had to rock me and sing “This old man” to me. He hasn’t done that in a very long time. I was able to go back to sleep but it was a restless sleep. My fever was now 38.7°C (101.7). We kept hoping that it would go down before it was time to leave for my parent/child excursion to the zoo, but alas, it did not. It’s too bad. We were all really looking forward to it. But I needed more rest and also it is also not a very safe time to be around others when you have a fever, even if it is most likely a side-effect of inoculations. So it was day at home for me. Luckily, despite my fever, I was feeling pretty good (compared to yesterday when I had a lower fever but was feeling pretty tired).

No matter how great the zoo would have been, I’m still happy to be at home with Mommy and Daddy. Our time together is just as fun, exciting, and important as excursions out in the big wide world.

Sometimes even the simple things are so nice to do together.
