I am so into The Wheels on the Bus right now. I want Daddy to sing it all the time! I’ve always liked when Daddy sang me the song and even started doing the hand gestures a while back. But that was just one of those occasional things. I’ve been making Daddy sing it every day for quite some time now. It kind of started when I was playing with my bath toys and Daddy started singing the song to me. Then I started pointing out the different parts of the bus on my foam toy and Daddy would sing the appropriate line. Wheels go round and round, wipers go swish swish swish, and children go up and down. Then we added horns going beep, blinkers going on and off, and then all sorts of animals in the bus making the sounds they make. Daddy was washing me when he got to the doors opening and shutting when all the soap suds on his hands went flying everywhere. I was hooked. I wanted him to sing about the doors again and again. He even put some soap suds on my hands to make them fly when I did the gestures with him. Now, when I want Daddy to sing the song I point to the doors on a picture of a bus, or any vehicle, and do the open and shut motion. Daddy knows that he is supposed to sing. I’m so addicted that when I wake up crying in the middle of the night I ask Daddy to sing. He does so, sleepily and with uncoordinated hand motions, but he sings to me until I fall back asleep, mimicking the hand motions all the time.
Daddy told Grandma and Grandpa about his addiction and at the mention of it I, of course, wanted Daddy to sing again. So I showed Grandma and Grandpa how well I know the song.
