Today is Setsubun. So at school today, we chased away the oni, or evil spirits, by throwing beans at them. Well, we didn’t use beans. We actually used rolled up paper balls. That’s a good thing too because I don’t think beans would have done the trick. The oni was pretty impressive.
Of course, a lot of us cried, but we were successful in vanquishing the oni. It was quite a traumatic experience just to get a bit of good fortune. I hope I don’t have to go through this again.
At least I went home with my own oni mask that I made. Maybe now they won’t bother me anymore.
