100th Day Photo Shoot

Today I turned 100 days old! It is a big milestone for babies in Japan. It is called kuizome. There is a food related ritual on a baby’s 100th day, but many families also take pictures. So we were off to the photo studio again.

I was not as happy and smiley as I usually am, possibly because of the after effects from my vaccination yesterday, but I pushed through and we got some good shots. I was sleepy and a little fussy and just drained. Everyone was very patient with me, understanding that photo shoots are not easy for any baby even under the best circumstances. I had a short nap and nursed a bit and we all waited for me to be in a better mood. When I was, then we all rushed into position and snapped off a bunch of shots in different outfits with different backgrounds. Once I was ready, everything moved very quickly and efficiently and we were pleased with the photos.

It may not be the joyful laughing baby that you may be used to seeing, but they were good photos nonetheless. Let’s just say that since this was a ceremonial photo shoot I went for more noble poses. Here are a few sample clips from the photo shoot. The final pictures will be available in a couple of weeks.

Update (2021/09/01):

We got the digital copies from the photo shoot. Lookin’ good!
