School interests

I’m not that into dancing at school. I often choose to sit the dancing out. I’m curious about learning things but am not always all smiles. I usually have a look of concentration or deep thought. I’m the type of kid that when you ask me what my favorite subject at school I’ll probably say […]

Heading home

Sometimes I give Mommy a hard time and refuse to head home when she picks me up from school. Other times I’m very willing to head home and even carry my own bag.

Getting along

I may not be the most friendly kids at school, but I do have friends. In fact, I have fans. Some of my friends are very interested in me and like to follow me. They often join me in bus watching at the park or bug searching in the grass. Sometimes they give their parents

Not a dancing monkey

Most kids my age are happy to dance whenever there is music on, but I’m not most kids. No, I’m the kid that very conspicuously lies on the floor when the teachers try to lead everyone in dance. The funny thing is that I actually dance a lot at home when playing with Daddy and

Healthy dinner

I had a very healthy dinner tonight. Raw tomatoes, corn on the cob, salmon, and rice. I ate everything up! I like eating fish, but more often than not I prefer beef, chicken and pork. Of course after I ate up all my dinner I wanted some fruits for dessert.

Doodling

It was another hot day today, so instead of going outside we spent time indoors. We did some doodling and coloring. I’m not a big art person, but I enjoyed myself. Most of the time I would just tell me teacher what to draw and when she did I got really excited.

Train display

On our walk at school we stopped by the prefectural office to see the train display. I was so thrilled to see it. It was as if they set it up just for me.

Haircut time

I needed a haircut before our trip so Daddy got the clippers and scissors and gave me a quick haircut. I’m getting more used to them and don’t struggle as much. I actually enjoy it because I get to watch YouTube and eat sweets, which is a real treat for me.

Visiting Jiiji and Baaba’s house

We paid Jiiji and Baaba a visit so that they could see me before our trip to Kauai. Also so I could offer tech advice to them. I like to help them figure out how to use their phones. They were happy to spend time with me and we enjoyed a very nice lunch together,

Mason Bus (basket)

I made myself my own little bus for one. It was a pretty good fit and a lot of fun. Mommy and Daddy were both amused and upset that I unceremoniously removed folded laundry from the basket to make my little Mason bus.

Glasses

I still like wearing glasses! Mommy and Daddy have to exchange the prescription ones for these blue-light ones so that I don’t ruin my eyesight.

Train book

Mommy and I borrow a lot of books from my nursery school. But of course my tastes are quite particular so we often get books about vehicles or food. Yesterday we borrowed a book about trains. It is the second time I chose this book to borrow. And since it is the weekend I’ll get

Tonkatsu sauce

We went to a tonkatsu restaurant today where you grind your own sesame seeds to add to the sauce. I helped with the grinding so I felt obligated to do a taste quality check. I wanted to be very thorough so I had a lot of tastes. Don’t worry, it didn’t fill me up. I

Crib escape

I was sleep trained a long time ago and have been sleeping on my own for more than a year and a half, but recently I don’t like going to bed. These days I am put down to bed without incident, but once the door closes I feel very lonely and start crying. At first,

Have a drink

Mommy and Daddy have always helped me eat and drink things so sometimes I try to return the favor. Mommy was drinking from a bottle (beer bottle) today so I decided to give her a hand and help drink. But I don’t have all day so I pretty much tried to pour the entire bottle

Play and dogeza practice

Daddy and I find a lot of fun ways to play. A lot of it involves roughhousing and imagination. And that often involves a lot of copying. But sometimes we play by practicing practical skills. Today Daddy taught me how to do dogeza (traditional Japanese kneeling bow). It is usually used when apologizing or asking

Measuring up

I’m growing up very fast (but not as fast as it appears). Of course, I am growing a lot. I’ve grown about 7 cm (2 3/4 in.) in half a year. But I think Mommy and Daddy think I’ve sprouted a lot more than I really have. Mommy and Daddy keep saying that I’ve grown

So good with chopsticks

Recently my chopsticks have become my utensil of choice. If it is not soup or something, I often prefer to eat with chopsticks (with some assistance from my fingers). When Mommy and Daddy ask if I want chopsticks or a fork I will say “chopsstix”.
