Buckles

I’m really into buckles right now. I like buckling up my high chair and my baby carrier even when I’m not in them. I just like buckling things. I even made sure that Daddy’s bag was all buckled up before he left for work. Nice and secure.

Helping find the turtle

Poor Daddy. After a long day of work he comes home and always has time to play with me, but I think he is really tired. Everyday we go to the bathroom for my bath and he forgets where the turtle mat for the tub is. I mean, everyday! Poor Daddy. Luckily, I always help him find it. What would he do without me?

I may look cute and innocent, and make it seem that I’m interested in buses and stuff.

But I’m actually the mastermind behind planning our great escape. One day we will gain our freedom beyond the fence.

But then we’ll probably come right back because we all love our nursery school and know that after our walk we get to eat lunch. And we love lunch! I always get seconds.

Making roads

I love playing with my foam car bath toys that Grandma and Grandpa got me. I get so into it that bath time goes by very quickly and sometimes I don’t want to get out of the tub. Recently I like playing with the roads as well as the cars. I’m getting better at putting them together. I still have some trouble sometimes getting the sides of the road to match up. Sometimes I’ll be trying to shove two concave ends together so Daddy will tell me to flip it around. So I flip both pieces around and then have two convex pieces not connecting. Daddy tries to explain to flip only one piece, which I do, then I flip the other one as well and it doesn’t match up. I’m working on it.

Mommy’s pole, Daddy’s pole, Mason’s pole

After Mommy picked me up from school today, I didn’t feel like going home just yet and wanted to stay out a bit. So she took me for a walk and we ended up at the park near our house. I ran around a bit and was ducking under these bars that I like to play around. Then out of the blue I declared that the middle medium-sized pole was Mommy’s pole. Then the tallest one was Daddy’s. Of course, the smallest one was mine. I just had to make that clear.

Curious and observant, but not attentive

I’m a very curious and observant little boy. I like seeing and learning new things. I notice almost everything. Especially things I am into. Nobody in my school spots airplanes flying overhead or buses driving by faster than I do, including teachers. Even on our walks I spot all kinds animals as well. But just because I’m curious and observant, it does not necessarily mean that I’m attentive. Sure, I’m listening and I hear everything, I’m just also doing other things at the same time like looking at other stuff.

Everyone else is attentively looking forward, but not me.

Magnatiles

I play with my magnatiles a lot these days. They are now standard in my toy rotation. What’s nice is that Mommy and Daddy seem to enjoy playing with them too! Although I have to demolish what they make in order to complete my creations, we all still have a lot of fun.

Happy at nursery school

I’m always happy at nursery school. I love to see my teachers and friends and enjoy all the outings and events. Overall, I play quite well with others and am usually in a very good mood. But it doesn’t always show in the photos that my teachers take. However, today, they caught me with a nice smile on my face!

I’m a perfect human

I’m so good at mimicking and copying that Mommy and Daddy are always giving me funny new things to do. Daddy was going through a bunch of old ippatsu gags by comedians to see if I could copy them. Mommy and Daddy burst into laughter when I was able to do the “I’m a perfect human” head tilt. It’s a Japan thing, so don’t worry about the reference. Just notice the quality of the mimicry.

Double utensil nabe

We had nabe for dinner tonight. And when I say “we” I actually mean we. I didn’t have a special one made for me. I at exactly the same thing Mommy and Daddy ate, just cut into smaller pieces. I’ve been eating more and more grown up food. Sometimes the flavors are toned down and the pieces are made smaller, but over all I eat a lot of the same things Mommy and Daddy eat. Most of my meals are still made just for me, but sometimes it is fun to all eat together! And I do it very efficiently with my double utensil method.

Babysat by Obachan

It seems like we are practicing having me babysat. Mommy and Daddy left me with Obachan to run some errands. It seems like they have a wedding to go to next month and want to get me used to not having them around for a few hours. Of course, Obachan and I were fine. She is my play pal. I cried a bit at first, but quickly calmed down and then was completely fine. She kept me entertained and fed, so there was nothing to worry about.

Grandma and Grandpa babysat me in Hawaii, so I’m used to the concept. I know that even though Mommy and Daddy leave, they are coming back. The difference is that Grandma and Grandpa baby sat me in their house and there was the two of them and others. Obachan had to manage on her own, but she did a great job!

Wooden blocks and cars

I was playing with my wooden blocks and cars for the first time in a long time. I have so many other cars that my wooden ones have been neglected somewhat. I was having fun, but I was feeling a bit lonely all the way over here. So I went to sit in Daddy’s lap to play. I tend to be very clingy with Daddy on the weekends.

Daddy’s birthday yakiniku dinner

For Daddy’s belated birthday dinner we went to yakiniku. I’ve been to yakiniku before but this is the first time we decided not to even bring any food for me. We knew that I would have more than enough to eat. Nowadays I can eat and do eat just about anything. I am even eating a lot more meat than before. I think I’m going to enjoy this meal!

I had a great meal! My bowls may not show much meat because I kept eating it up right away once it was put there. I really like all of it! But I think my favorite part of the meal was the salad bar which had corn and some pasta. I had several servings of those. And then came the dessert. Oooh did I like the dessert.

It was an all-you-can-eat meal, but because I am under 3 I eat for free. I’m pretty sure that I ate more than the expected of a nearly 21-month-old. Even though the meal was not cheap for Mommy or Daddy I might have made the entire meal a little more reasonable.
