Little Santa visit

We went shopping at Costco with my friend and her family and then we all came back to our place for dinner. We had so much fun together! We were playing around with the sliding door. Things were going well until I got a little to possessive over my toys. All of a sudden I didn’t like her playing with them and snatched them back. Mommy and Daddy told me that I should share, but I was not in a sharing mood. We managed to play in our own areas with our own things peacefully for a while. But every so often I got possessive and territorial and had to stake my claim to my things. It was probably not the most hospitable thing to do, but it was getting late and I was a bit cranky from being tired.

The grownups seemed to be having a great time since they are parents with little ones who don’t get to go out and socialize much. I think they were very happy to be able to socialize at home.

My friends parents were very impressed with everything that I could do. It seems that I’m a bit advanced with my age. They were impressed with my appetite, dexterity, vocabulary and sharpness. They were so surprised that I could correctly match my cards and say several words. I was impressed by the number of teeth my friend had. She practically had a full mouth of teeth, top and bottom. And yet I eat a lot more than she does and make good use of my fewer teeth. Interesting.

There were good friendly moments and some times where I was embarrassed by my behavior. At school I share very well because it is not my things, it is the schools things, and we are all meant to play with it. It is a different situation at home. I plan to work on it and be better at sharing. I just need more opportunities to do it.

Cracking up over clapping hands

We were wandering around Costco, me in the shopping cart, and Daddy started singing to me. He sang one of my favorites, If you’re happy and you know it. But he added a slapstick element to it…literally. Instead of clapping his hands he slapped his gloves against his face and I thought it was the funniest thing in the world. I laughed so hard! I practically cackled!

Two-wheeler

There has been talk about me getting a Strider for Christmas so when we were at Costco and saw something similar, we decided to give it a ride to see if I would like it. It is very obvious that I liked it! The only problem is that I’m still a bit small for it. My feet barely touched the floor and it was a pretty heavy bike. I think I’ll either have to wait a bit longer or find a smaller bike to ride.

Recital

I had my first recital at nursery school today and as you can see I was quite nervous. There were so many people there. Usually it is just us kids and the teachers but today there were so many grown up with the kids. I did not like this sudden change to my comfortable environment.

I sat nervously with Mommy and Daddy waiting to see what would happen next. We had been practicing for this recital for weeks now and I always enjoyed our rehearsals and did really well. Yesterday, the teachers told Daddy that I did so well at rehearsal and they were looking forward to the recital.

First we had role call. For months I have been doing so well at raising my hand when my name is called. Today was different. I got stage fright and froze. I’m usually so good at this and yet with all the changes I felt that I couldn’t do anything.

First other classes went first and did their performance. There were some kids who did great and performed with smiles and joy. There were those who cried and showed that they did not want to be there up on stage. Any guess which I was?

The theme of the recital was presents. We were to hide behind props that looked like huge presents and we would jump out in our festive costumes. I had practiced really hard and nailed it at rehearsal. I even donned my costume without complaint. The recital was a different story.

As you can see I did not wear my costume, did not joyously jump out of my present, and overall did not enjoy the recital. To be honest I much preferred the rehearsals. Less people and pressure.

Still, Mommy and Daddy were very proud of me for trying and were happy to see my on stage. It was a learning experience and I’m already looking forward to doing better during the next recital now that I know there will be a crowd and different circumstances.

After my part was done, I was much mored relaxed after I took some time to calm down. I even started to enjoy myself and started playing with Daddy’s shoes.

Maybe the recital did not go as any of us had hoped or planned, but it was still a fun event. Mommy and Daddy were happy to see me participate and are looking forward to the next recital. They also liked seeing the inside of my school and all the cute decorations. They’re favorite decoration was a Mason decoration

Saying “purple”

I’ve been able to say “blue” for quite some time now, but I’m having trouble with the other colors. I can kind of say “yellow”. I use a lot of tongue to pronounce the Ls. Just recently I started to say “purple”. It is strange because it seems like that should be one of the harder colors to say. Mommy and Daddy get a kick out of the way I say it because I say it so quickly and casually as if I’ve been saying it for a long time.

Car disassembly at breakfast

I really like my new cars and accessories from my Hot Wheels advent calendar. I try to find any time I can to play with them. That means the little time I have before breakfast is filled with my playing with my cars. Oddly rolling them around is not my favorite way to play with them. I like to remove the accessories and let Daddy reattach them.

Walk and recital practice

The weather is getting colder, but we still enjoy our walks. It is nice to go outside and breathe the fresh cool air.

Back at school we practiced for the recital that we are going to have this weekend. You may remember that I’m not the most attentive student during our mini assemblies, but I am very into the recital and am practicing very hard. Look at me going through the motions for the song. I can’t wait until this weekend to perform the real thing!
