One and a half years old / 18 months old

Watch out world! Here comes 18-month-old Mason! Yes, that’s right, I’m a year and a half now! How time flies. It seems just like yesterday that I was turning 1. But when I look back at how much I’ve grown and developed, it was a very full 6 months. I wasn’t even walking when I turned 1. I was standing but that was it. Can you believe I’ve only been walking around for about 3 months? I got used to walking that I forgot that I used to crawl around or even army crawl around on my belly. That was a lot slower and nowhere near as fun as walking. It is so great to grow up!

So like I said, watch out world!

Sick, but good appetite

Although I’m sick and my fever and moodiness has Mommy and Daddy worried, they are relieved that I still have a good appetite. But I’m a little bit more picky with what I want to eat. Sure, I want to eat a lot, but since I have a runny nose, cough and fever, not all foods will taste good. After eating up everything on my plate I really didn’t feel like finishing my rice.

Moody: Clearing the table

Since I’ve been sick, I’ve been a lot more moody. I’ve been disagreeable and throwing tantrums a lot. I think not feeling my best coupled with turning 18 months which is the more common start of terrible twos is making it harder for me to manage my emotions. I overreact a lot when something doesn’t go my way or I’m not understood. More often than not I don’t even understand myself and what I want. I’m just frustrated and moody. It is not a good look for me and I don’t like it, but what can I do? I’m a baby growing into a little boy and also I’m sick. It is tough, but Mommy and Daddy have been very patient, understanding, and loving throughout. I’m sure they feel like throwing their own tantrums from time to time. It must be hard to see their usually very happy boy be less than agreeable.

Fresh air at the park

I was getting a bit cabin fever and being really fussy at home. So Daddy thought that I needed some fresh air so we went to the park. The weather was really nice and when we got there it seemed like my nose was not running as much. I guess the fresh air did me good. I had a lot of fun on the slides and rockers, but one of the reasons I like this particular park is that I can see all kinds of vehicles. There are cars and trains going by, and not to mention a lot of airplanes flying over.

Another sick day

I was all ready to go to school today but right before it was time to leave I developed a fever. It was not a surprise since I woke up a bit on the warm side. I thought I was getting better since I went to the doctor yesterday and got some medicine, but I guess I was wrong. It’s probably for the best because I did have that slight fever and a runny nose and now a cough. I guess I’ll take it easy again today.

After some quiet play, with books and stickers, I was looking a bit lethargic. But since I was home we decided to give Grandma and Grandpa a call. Once we did I perked up and was very happy to see them. We had a nice talk and played a bunch via FaceTime. Grandma and Grandpa helped me drink a lot of liquids by doing kanpai with me a lot.

Eventually, I got tired and cranky so we said goodbye so that I could take a nap.

Going for a walk with Mommy

I really like being outside. I was so happy that the weather was nice enough for Mommy and I to go for a walk even though I was sick. I think the fresh air is good for me.

Sometimes when we walk we don’t make much progress because I really like to go up and down steps, even if they are small steps like a curb or something. These means that I often end up going in circles.

I really get moving when I have something to chase, like the pigeons at the park. I haven’t caught one yet, but I’m getting pretty close. It is not fair because they have wings and can fly and I have only been walking for a few months.

That’s a lot of walking. Snack time now.

Home sick

Over the weekend I had a runny nose which is slowly turning into a cough so I went to the doctor this morning with the hopes of getting some medicine and then hopefully going to nursery school. But even though I didn’t have a fever at home or the doctor, I had one when I got to school. So I’m spending the day home with Mommy. (Which is nice because she had to work on Saturday.). It is all for the best because I am feeling pretty run down and tired.

Paper helicopters

Daddy and I played with paper helicopters today. It has been a long time since the first time I saw them. I had a totally different reaction when I was a baby. I thought it was hilarious and was laughing a lot. Today I think I was interested in the paper helicopters from a scientific standpoint. I wasn’t laughing or excited, but I watched carefully as the floated down to the ground. Very interesting physics at work here.

Happy family

We were just relaxing on the couch and we thought that we should take some family photos. They turned out pretty good, especially considering that Daddy was holding his phone with his foot.

After we took a few pictures I wanted to see them so I went to check out the phone. Daddy just kept on taking pictures.
