Poi please

Since I’ve been here in Hawaii, I have really gotten to like poi! It tastes really good, it is cool, and I like the texture a lot too! It is easy to eat a lot of it very quickly and it is quite filling! When I heard that we still had some poi in the house I jumped at the opportunity to have some for breakfast. Of course I remembered my manners and signed “please”.

Fun in a box

I wanted to play in the box again and Maile and Lauren were kind enough to come play with me. My favorite part was playing peekaboo with them. They even learned how to play peekaboo in Japanese to make it more fun for me. You could see that I like to make an entrance and I also like applause for my performance. Everyone is treating me so nice that I feel like a prince! I think I might be letting it go to my head at times because I was a bit bossy at certain moments.

Even after playing in the box Maile and Lauren were taking pictures of me, making me feel like a star!

Gecko

Grandpa was working in the yard and found a gecko. He caught it and brought it over to show me because I had never seen a gecko before. I think the grownups thought I would be afraid of it since it was new and a lot of people find geckos and lizards icky and creepy. Not me. I thought is was very interesting. Without hesitation I reached in and grabbed the gecko. At this point I think the grownups were worried that I would grab the gecko too hard or do something gross like put it in my mouth. They all underestimated me. I know better than that. I gently picked up the gecko and began to examine it. I thought it was a fascinating creature and just want to learn more about it. It was a bit wriggly so I kept dropping it, but overall I think I did a good job grabbing it and holding it. After I finished my examination we let the gecko go and he might have been happy to be done with the scientific observation. That was a very interesting experience for me. I have a feeling that every time I visit Hawaii I’ll have more opportunities to discover new animals.

Need a walk and nap

I think I was getting tired because I was not in a good mood. I wanted to be in the stroller but I did not want to be in the stroller. It was a confusing time. Mommy and Daddy eventually safely got me in the stroller and we took a walk around the block and I was asleep before we made it back to the house.

Naked(?) snack time

No, I’m not naked! I have my diaper on. It is just coincidentally hidden by the tray table. So, why am I nearly naked? Well, I heard we are going to play outside in the pool, so I got undressed, but I was hungry and wanted my snack first. So this is me in between outfit changing. You know, the more I look at these pictures, the more I doubt if I’m really wearing diapers or not. Hmmm. Now I can’t say for sure.

Post beach

Being exhausted from all the fun at the beach, I fell asleep in the car. Mommy and Daddy wrapped me up and let me have a mini nap before dinner.

In the meantime, Daddy went into my mini pool to rinse of the sand and cool down!

What a big kid!

Fun in the water and on the sand

I love the beach now, and am not hesitant about going in the water at all! In fact, once we got into view of the water I pointed in that direction, telling Daddy to take me in at once! So in we went! We were in such a hurry that my hat kept falling off and I thought that it was hilarious! Anyway, we had a ton of fun in the water!

I also wanted to get more experience in the sand this time, so we came up to the beach and I played in the sand a bit. It was really fun to just touch the sand and watch it fall through my fingers.

Even though I had fun playing with the sand, it looked more like I was observing an experiment since I was so serious about it. I think I impressed everyone by not trying to eat the sand as many babies do.

As proof as a fun time at the beach I dutifully fell asleep on the very short car ride home.

Getting shave ice

We headed down to the beach again today. But before the beach we made a stop at an ice cream/shave ice shop. Lauren had ice cream, Maile and Mommy had shave ice, and I had apple sauce and snack puffs. Looking at Mommy’s huge shave ice, I feel I might have been short changed on the snacks, but I was pretty happy with what I had.

Grandma singing to me

Grandma and I were going through her book collection again, and she came across a book that played songs and had a microphone that you could sing into. Correct that, it was supposed to play songs and it had a microphone that did not work. Either it was broken or the batteries were dead. In any case, that did not stop Grandma from entertaining her grandson and she sang the songs a cappella! I thought it was so fun and funny! I was extremely entertained! Please tell me where I can buy your album, Grandma!

I had ice cream for the first time ever today. It is a bit of a family tradition that Grandpa gives all the grandkids their first taste of ice cream, since he is the ice cream guy. (There is never less than a dozen different pints of ice cream in the freezer and Grandma doesn’t eat ice cream). I really had know idea what I was going to get. I’ve had yogurt before and that’s about as close as I’ve gotten to a dairy based dessert.

And the verdict…of course I loved it! Just look how I couldn’t control my legs after the first bite! Thank you, Grandpa! Okay, so now that I had some vanilla ice cream, tell me about all the Ben & Jerry’s flavors again!
