Pop-up books

Grandma read a bunch of books to me during my visit. Most of them were interactive in some way: touch & feel, left the flap, slide open, trace, etc.. Today she revealed more of her stash of books and out popped a bunch of pop-up books! They were very cool! Not only did they pop up, but they were also of creepy crawly things like bugs and critters. Fun! I kind of tore to pieces my only pop-up book at home, so I kept my distance, not wanting to damage these at all. I looked, but didn’t touch.

Piano and Bounce

I was crawling around the house and Daddy decided to bury me under all the pillows and cushions he could find. I easily escaped and then found something fun to do. I like climbing up on piles of things and I like bouncing. I also like the piano, music, and rhythm in general. So I discovered my piano and bounce groove!

Family dinner

We went out for a nice family dinner tonight, so I got all dressed up in my Aloha-wear. I had a great time! Everyone said that I was really well behaved at dinner. I ate all my food (kind of a given) and stayed in my seat and didn’t cause any trouble. I was so interested in the new environment that I was in a very good mood! I liked the scenery, the ceiling fans, the doves and chickens wandering around, and even the tiki torches that were lit as it began to get dark. There was so much to see and discover!

I also had Maile and Lauren there to entertain me. They played peekaboo with me from across the table and tried to make me laugh. But the thing I found the most entertaining was them playing a question game where they answer by tilting their head in the direction of the person who most fit the description. The questions were pretty funny and the everyone thought that it was fun and cute, but I thought it was absolutely hilarious and laughed like crazy! Needless to say, we all had a fun dinner!

Shopping (for puppets?)

We went shopping for a few things that we needed here in Hawaii and also for things we want to bring back to Japan. While shopping I found these cute little hand puppets that I instantly adored. I’m not really big on dolls or stuffed animals, but I grabbed these puppets one by one of the rack and hugged them all fiercely. Eventually, Mommy and Daddy convinced me to pick just two, and they instantly became my cuddle buddies.

Just checking in

Recently I have been exploring more of the house and even wandering into different bedrooms. I found where Maile and Lauren are staying and now that is one of my favorite rooms to visit. I randomly check in on them just to see how they’re doing and what they’re up to.

Hotel tour and photo shoot

Daddy and I dropped Mommy off to get her early birthday massage. So we had some time to kill so Daddy took me on a tour of the hotel. It was pretty interesting!

We also headed down to the beach for a bit of a photo shoot. It was fun! I think we got some nice photos!

After our little photo shoot we went back to wait for Mommy. It was only a couple minutes but looking at me you would think that I was waiting there for an hour.

Whew! What a busy morning!

Grandma’s iPad jigsaw puzzle

Like all her other grandkids, this grandkid loves to help Grandma with her jigsaw puzzles on her iPad. Apparently over the years all the grandkids would gravitate over to her while she was doing her puzzles and “help” her. Which means the eventually took over the entire iPad for their own entertainment. I’m not at that point yet, but I am drawn to try and help Grandma when she is on her iPad.

Garbage Truck

I woke up early and Daddy told me that I was just in time to see the garbage truck come to pick up the trash. I was very interested in that. It was pretty cool! It was one of those automated garbage trucks that pulled up to the house and then an automated arm picked up the trash can and tossed its contents into the back and then set it back down. Wow!

I heard that Daddy used to wake up early on garbage day when he was young to watch the garbage trucks. The difference was back then it wasn’t automated. Daddy just liked watching the compactor smoosh all the garbage.

Kalapaki Beach

We went to Kalapaki beach today. It was different from Lydgate beach, which had little beach pools formed by rock walls. That blocked out the big waves and it made calm waters. This beach had no rock walls, so we had to keep our eyes on the waves coming in. Since I already had been to a beach before, it took no time for me to get used to this beach. We had a ton of fun! Words probably wouldn’t do it justice, so just check out the pictures and videos of our time at Kalapaki beach.
