First airplane ride

I went on my first airplane ride today! I thought it was awesome! I enjoyed it a lot! I wasn’t sure if I would like it or hate it. After all, airplane rides can be scary experiences for babies.

I didn’t mind the enclosed space, I didn’t mind the strangers, I didn’t mind the loud noises of the engines, in fact, I didn’t mind anything having to do with the airplane. The only thing I didn’t like was the rules of the airplane, like being told when I can and can’t stand up. That was pretty much the only time I showed any discomfort about being on the airplane. The rest of the time I had a lot of fun taking in the new sites and new experiences.

Waking up and meeting Grandma and Grandpa

Because of my nap on the airplane, the first time Grandma and Grandpa saw me in real life I was asleep. Still, they were thrilled to see me and Mommy and Daddy! If I had been awake, I’m sure I would have been able to feel the love they had for me even though it was our first time meeting.

While waiting for our luggage to arrive I slowly woke up, still a bit sleepy. Grandma and Grandpa were very considerate and gave me time and space, not rushing to hug me as they wanted to do. They had brought me a toy truck, knowing how much I like vehicles, but I was still too warn out to show any reaction. At least I didn’t cry.

Despite being in a completely different place, I was a very good boy and did not cry at all. I even sat in my new car seat in a car I had never seen before in my life and did not complain even a bit. I was just taking in all the new things around me.

The rest of the day I slowly started to get acclimated to the new environment and Grandma and Grandpa. I wasn’t necessarily in a great mood, but more of a contemplative one. I took everything in. There was so much that was new that the first day at Grandma and Grandpa’s house, I pretty much remained in one spot. I played with the new truck that Grandma and Grandpa got me, I ate lunch in a new chair. I took things slow and they gave me the space I needed to start to feel comfortable around them and safe in a new home.

Last flight (Hawaii)

Even though it was my third flight of the day, I was still really interested in the airplane and what was going on outside of the airplane. I think I’m going enjoy regular traveling.

I’m so comfortable on airplanes that it was quite easy for me to fall asleep. So I took a nap before we got to Kauai. I also wanted to be well rested when I met Grandma and Grandpa for the first time.

Arrived in Hawaii

We finally arrived in Hawaii! I’m so excited, but it doesn’t really show because I am also focused on being observant. I wan to make sure to take in everything that I see. It looks very different here. This is definitely not Japan.

Our arrival went smoothly. We arrived on time, if not a little early. Landing was no problem. I am a very good flyer and nothing about the flight bothered me. I ate well, slept well, and played well. I didn’t even bother the other passengers. Flying is a very new experience for me and I was very interested in every part of it.

After we landed we got through customs smoothly and before we knew it we were outside in Hawaii! Again, I don’t show my excitement, but it is there.

We still have one more flight so we made our way to the domestic terminal, checked in our bags and went through security. Again, everything went smoothly. Then we had some time to kill until our last flight so we were just hanging out around the gate. I did a bit of exploring while practicing walking.

While exploring I discovered a lot of windows where I could see a lot of airplanes. I was fascinated by them! They were so cooL!

After a fairly short wait and some exploration of the waiting area, we boarded the last leg of our trip. Of we go to Kauai. Grandma and Grandpa, we’re coming!

Lid on mug

I like to observe and learn how to do things myself. Today I tried to put the lid on my mug all by myself. I’ve seen Mommy and Daddy do it hundreds of times but I figured that I should try it out myself. I didn’t quite get it, but pretty close.

After catching up and playing in the living room a bit, we decided to go shopping. Obachan had some things to buy, so we headed to the mall. It was good to get out of the house. It was way to hot to go out to the park or anything, so the mall was a good choice. The mall was nice and cool and a good place for me to eat my snack!

Tiny rice mustache

Mommy and Daddy were very worried about this tiny rice mustache that I had. I think they didn’t want me to breathe in too deeply otherwise the rice would go right up my nose. They were able to remove the grain of rice before it had any chance to enter my body.
