Pool time with my friend

My friend came over to play with me. It has been a few months since I had last seen her, but we picked up where we left off and had fun playing together. We always get along really well. Then we went into our tiny little wading pool. Mommy had told her mommy about the pool and invited them over for a pool date. She had a ton of fun! She loved playing in the water just as much as I did. For the most part we kept to our own sides of the pool, but we interacted a little bit we played with different toys that drifted between us.

When Daddy brought out the hose we were tickled by the mist and enjoyed the coolness in the summer heat.

We were in the pool a very long time and our fingers and toes were turning into prunes, (or umeboshi here in Japan). So he headed inside. We had a great time and are sure to do it again. After all, the summer is only going to get hotter.

Shapes in hippo’s mouth

I know the shapes are supposed to go in the shape holes at the top, but I was trying something new. I wanted to try and get the shapes in through the hippo’s mouth. But it was so low to the ground I was having a hard time seeing in there. In the end I decided to clap along with some music instead, so that’s what I did.

First time standing

I don’t know if you caught it in the last blog post, but I stood for the first time at the park today. Have had half-seconds of standing moments the past couple of weeks, but it was never really long enough to call standing. It was more of delayed squat or a slow lean from one support to another. But today I just stood on my own for several seconds. My hands were sandy and I didn’t want to touch the railing so I just stood there for a bit. Mommy and Daddy were very happy and proud! I was more concerned with my sandy hands. I didn’t even notice what I was doing. Maybe that’s the trick.

Long and tall

I think I’m growing. When I lie down I feel really long. When I’m in my crib I feel like I can stretch and reach the edges. When I stand I feel like I can reach things that used to be beyond my grasp. Maybe I had a growth spurt.

Thermometer

I have to get my temperature taken every day and it is quite a task. Before I go to nursery school we have to make sure that I don’t have a fever. So Daddy is tasked with putting the thermometer in my armpit and hoping it reads my temperature before I try to take it out. It usually takes him several tries. If he forces it and holds it in place when I don’t want it there, my temperature rises and we get a bad result and he has to wait until I calm down to try again.

Despite my dislike of getting my temperature taken, I actually like the thermometer, especially its case.

Feverish?

Daddy used his dinner break to pick me up and bring me home because of my fever. But it did not look like I had a fever at all. Daddy wondered if he had been duped. He wondered if I was able to fake a fever just to be picked up early. We’ll never know. Mommy came home just in time for Daddy to go back to work in time. He missed his dinner but I’m sure he’ll eat later on. It is one of the advantages of working at home.

He even got to spend a little more time with me as I enjoyed an after dinner show.

Tunnel, mingling, Tanabata wish, and then another fever

We had fun playing in the tunnels today! I’m no longer afraid or hesitant to crawl through.

I chatted up a girl at the local mat bar.

I hung up my tanabata wish.

Then I got a fever again. It was late afternoon but it would have been too long for me to wait for Mommy to come pick me up, so the school called Daddy and he came running again. When he picked me up I was happy to see him and did not look like I had a fever at all. Sure, I was hot, but I was in a really good mood. Still, better to be safe than sorry.

Trying to relax

Sometimes I just want to relax on the couch and watch my morning kids’ shows, but Daddy can help but come and play with me. To be honest, I don’t really mind. Actually, that’s what I aim to do. I just lured him into my trap of playing.
