Cups at nursery school

One of the toys I like to play with at nursery school are these plastic cups. I always liked cups. I still have my paper Starbucks cups at home that I play with. But I appreciate these colorful plastic cups that we have at nursery school. They are much more fun to play with.

Recently we started bringing our own mugs to school. The weather is getting warmer and we need to keep hydrated, so with our sippy mugs, we can always have a drink at hand.

Overtired because of roseola

By the time I get picked up, brought home, eat dinner, and take a bath, I am beyond tired. I am overtired. This roseola just drains me of my energy and my normal good-natured mood. I’m fussier and more irritable. And it is not a good look for me. Some red spots have moved to my face and my eyes are swollen. Not my best look.

Eating on my own

When possible, I like to eat on my own. I like to decide how much I eat and at what speed. So when we have things I can eat with my hands, like bread, I’m very happy! I’m really good at ripping the bread into small bite-sized pieces or tearing off pieces by biting.

So tired because of roseola

I’m so tired that I needed a morning nap before I went to school. I even woke up later than usual because of my roseola. I was still in a pretty good mood, ate well, and played a lot, but run down.

Being run down and uncomfortable can make me irritable. Last night during my bath I was in a bad mood. I didn’t know what I wanted but I wasn’t happy at all. I cried and cried. I hope I get better soon so that I can enjoy my days more.

Fussy because of roseola

My teachers at nursery school noticed that I was not my usual happy self. I was fussier than usual. Even during our walk, which I usually love, I was fussing here and there. I don’t know what is going on with these red dots all over me, but they sure are making me tired and fussy. I feel better than I did with the fever, but I can’t wait to be done with this whole roseola thing.

Even my nap showed how run down I was. I usually nap for about 2 hours, which is really long for me, but today I had a nearly 3-hour nap. I’m just tired.

I’m still eating well though, so that’ s a good sign!

Clapping to music

Nowadays I like to clap along to music! I can feel the rhythm and it is fun to join in the music! I was clapping along happily until I sensed that Daddy was taking a video so I stopped and wandered over to him instead. I’m sure he’ll get a video of me clapping sometime, but not today.

Fever is gone…but I got roseola

I woke up today without any fever. My temperature was back to normal and everyone was happy! But when Daddy was feeding me breakfast he noticed a few red dots around my mouth. Mommy checked my chest and belly and sure enough they were covered with tiny red dots. Roseola, sometimes referred to as “baby measles”. We had heard that it is very common for babies to get roseola around one year of age. Roseola starts off as a high fever that lasts around three days and then subside, only to result in many tiny red dots spread across the torso and back. That’s exactly what happened to me. I am a textbook case. It is unfortunate because we were all so excited that I was done with my fever.

So it looks like I’ll be stuck with these dots for about 3-5 days. I’m not itchy or anything, so that’s a relief. But I am a little uncomfortable and in a fussy mood. And here I was looking forward to being fully recovered once my fever was gone.

The good news is that I’ll be able to go to school today since roseola is only contagious in the fever stage. According to the medical articles and my nursery school, as long as I have an appetite, not uncontrollably fussy, and am able to go about my daily routine, it is safe for me to go to school. So, even though I’m still not feeling 100%, I’m very happy that I’ll be able to safely go back to school.

Helping Daddy with his socks

Daddy always helps me put my socks on so I thought I would be nice and help him put his socks on too. Easier said than done. I couldn’t get the socks on his feet, but I was able to place them on his feet. It is harder than it looks. I guess that’s why he puts my socks on for me. Thanks Daddy!

Helping(?) Daddy brush his teeth

Helping Daddy brush his teeth has become a part of our morning routine. I’ll tell Daddy it is time to brush his teeth by calling him and then pointing toward the bathroom. When we get there I’ll point to his toothbrush and let him get everything ready. Then it is time to brush. To tell the truth, he does most of the brushing. Nowadays I kind of just interrupt his brushing for my own entertainment.

After he finishes brushing his teeth he always gargles with mouthwash which I think it very interesting. A couple times he forgot to gargle so I made noises and pointed to the medicine cabinet, indicating that he forgot to gargle. He got the message and he mouth was minty fresh soon after.

Lingering fever

I woke up feeling much better, but according to my temperature, I still have a fever. It is 38.1°C (100.6°F), which isn’t too bad, but high enough to keep me home from school. To be honest, even though I’m feeling much better, I’m still not fully recovered. I had to take an early morning nap because I just didn’t have the energy to keep going.
