Birthday celebration at nursery school

I’m the birthday boy! I know I don’t look it, but I’m really happy for my special celebration at school! (I just don’t like posing for pictures.) I was very appreciative of everyone celebrating my birthday…and maybe I let it go to my head a little. You can see a little bit of attitude in the way I sat in the special seat at the front with my crown.

My teacher was putting on a magic show for my birthday celebration, that’s why I got the special seat. My teacher is pretty magical! She made a ball disappear and then reappear in a different cup. I was watching really carefully, but I don’t know how she did it.

By the way, do you know how I’m always crossing my legs and feet? I also grasp my feet with my toes a lot when I sit. I don’t think I showed it to you before. I’ve done it since I was really little. It is an unconscious action that Mommy finds curious and makes Daddy laugh. He likes to think of me as his little monkey.

Great first birthday!

I had a great first birthday! In some ways it was like any other day and that is what is so great about it! I have a great life! It did feel special today, but I hear that I’m going to have a birthday party this weekend and that is where the real celebration happens. I can’t wait!

Happy birthday to me!

1st Birthday!

Happy birthday to me! I am 1 year old today! Yippee! Has it been a year already? It sure flew by. I really can’t describe what it is like. Of course, you know that I grew a lot and developed a lot. I picked up a lot of skills and abilities. I don’t really feel like a baby anymore. I feel more like a little boy. I’m still not walking or talking, but look at me. Can you say that I look like a baby?

Well, it has been a great year! Not only thinking about how much I’ve grown, but also with my part in the world. I know that I’m part of a family now. A year ago I didn’t know anyone. Everyone was a stranger. Now I know so many people who are a big part of my life and I know that I’m a big part of their lives as well. So let me say thank you to all my family out there. I love you all (even if we haven’t been able to meet yet)!

I’ve been looking forward to my first birthday for so long that now that it is here, I don’t know how to react. I guess it is not that day that is important, but every day and every moment up to this day. It sure has been fun! I invite you to take a trip down memory lane and look back in the blog. You had better do it now because this blog is only going to grow as I grow.

Love you all! Thank you for being a part of my life and letting me (and my blog) be a part of yours!

Morning playing and relaxing

I have a couple of hours in the morning before school so I spend that time playing with Daddy or relaxing with Daddy. Sometimes I play on my own, but even then, I check to make sure Daddy is watching me. Most of the time I need him in the room nearby and start crying if he leaves to go to the restroom. Right now he’s lucky I allow him to go to the kitchen to get breakfast and coffee.

Eat, bath, nurse, good night

My evenings seem to go by very quickly. Mommy picks me up from school and then I eat dinner right when we get home. After dinner I have a bath, then am nursed, and if I can stay awake through that I get a book. Recently I fall into a deep sleep while nursing. You can’t really fault me for that. Nursery school is joyfully exhausting.

Sleeping the buggy

I love our walks at school! We go to the park and take a lot of different routes so there is a lot to see! Today was I was really interested in some dogs that were also taking a walk. It is fun and stimulating, but also very comfortable and peaceful. I often fall asleep in the buggy. Sometimes on the walk out and sometimes on the walk back.

Happy Mother’s Day Grandma!

Yesterday was Mother’s Day here, but apparently it is is Mother’s Day for Grandma today. So I wanted to send her a message. But I wanted the positioning of the letters to be perfect so I kept touching them instead of smiling for the picture. I hope Grandma still gets the message even if it is missing some letters and I’m not smiling at the camera.

Playing with TV on

There are certain kids’ shows that are on in the morning that I quite like. Daddy turns them on for me so that I can listen to the songs and learn some new things. For the most part I focus on my play and toys, but every so often I can’t take my eyes off the TV.

Juice

The older I get, the more foods and drinks I am being allowed to have. Recently I have been drinking some juice from time to time. Barely tea is still my main drink, but I get to have some vegetable juice as a treat from time to time. And it really is a treat! I pretty much chug the whole mugful all at once.

Mother’s Day

Happy Mother’s Day Mommy! You’re the best mommy ever! I love you!

It is Mother’s Day today and I made Mommy a bouquet of my handprint flowers and a Mother’s Day card. She seemed really happy to get it from me! She liked it because it was all handmade. I’m glad she is okay with handmade stuff because since I have no income I’m going to have to make most of her gifts for the next few years.

We took her to a nice Mother’s Day lunch, which she thoroughly enjoyed!

I waited patiently while she enjoyed her special meal. I had my lunch before we left the house, so I just ate a snack while Mommy and Daddy ate lunch. I was done fairly quickly, but just sat in my chair like a well behaved boy.

Dandelion

We had a dandelion growing in our garden even though no one planted it. That’s fine, because it is a pretty interesting plant. Supposedly little kids like to play with them by blowing on them and making the fluffy white seeds fly everywhere. I just want to touch it.

Cotton Candy Grapes

I ate some cotton candy grapes today. They are these grapes that Daddy found at Costco. They were more expensive than the grapes he usually buys but knows how much Mommy likes fruits so got it for her as a treat. And you know what, they are great! They really do taste like cotton candy. (At least that’s what I’m told. I have never tried cotton candy before.). They are very sweet and worthy of the high price. I don’t think we’re going to buy them all the time, but they are totally worth it as a treat.

Pointing out preference

Now that I’ve mastered pointing at things, I’m finally putting it to good use. Instead of using it just to show people what I see, now I can communicate what I want. So when eating a meal I can indicate to Mommy and Daddy what food I want to eat next. Pretty useful!
