Snooping

When Mommy wasn’t watching, I started snooping through her bag. There is a lot of stuff in that bag that is interesting to me. First of all, that is where my food and snacks come from when we go out. I didn’t find any real food, just a package of small snacks that I wasn’t able to open. I did find Mommy’s bank book. I have a feeling this will help me get food in some way. I’ll keep a mental note on where to find this. I even went through the things she brought back from shopping, but it ended up being a box with no shoes and only tissue paper. Awesome! Playing with paper is much more fun than playing with shoes.

Going out with Mommy

Mommy had plans to go shopping for new work clothes with Obachan and she was planning to use a temporary day care service in the city to watch me, but they were all booked up, so I got to go shopping with them! I was so excited! I’d like to say that I was very well behaved, but I’ll just stick to saying that I was excited. They borrowed a stroller from the department store, but I didn’t really like it, so I cried. I wanted to be carried. But when Obachan carried me, I wanted to be carried by Mommy. This made things difficult because she had to try on clothes. In the end, she got her shopping done, I had a fun time, and everyone in the department store got to hear my voice. What a fun day!

I also got to be carried facing forward. The baby carrier that Mommy usually uses, faces her, which is comfy, but it makes it harder to see my surroundings. I quite liked being carried by Mommy facing forward.

Following

When I see Mommy or Daddy leave the room or noticed that they are not there, I like to go follow them. Of course I want to be close to them, but I also just want an excuse to explore. There is a lot of fun to be had in other rooms in the house.

Drop toss recovery

I’ve always been very good at grabbing things, but now I’m grabbing and dropping things a lot. I’m not quite throwing things yet, but it looks like a bit of a cross between a toss and a mic drop. It is fun when I drop things and then it is also fun when I have to chase them down.

Banana escape

I’m being given a lot more opportunities to feed myself and I have been doing well so far. Actually, I might be too good at feeding myself because I tend to put too much food or pieces that are too big into my mouth at once. This is especially true with bananas which are one of my favorite foods. I was feeding myself a banana and I bit off more than I could chew…literally.

I bit off so much of the banana that the banana tried to escape! Daddy helped rescue it temporarily from my mouth. Below is the banana’s attempted escape again.

Below is the banana stuck in eternal turmoil.

New sippy cup

I got a new sippy cup and I am doing really well drinking from it. My other mug had a straw which I got good at using very early on. It came with a sippy attachment as well, but it was a bit hard for me to use because it only worked if you drank from one edge. It wasn’t so bad when Mommy and Daddy helped me, but I had a hard time drinking on my own. I got good at drinking from the straw on my own because the direction of the mug did not matter as much. My new sippy cup is awesome because I can drink from any side and I can drink as easily as if it had an open top. The amazing thing is that it doesn’t spill. Cool!

TV

I’m not a big TV person. We turn the TV on in the afternoon for the kids’ shows, but I often lose interest quite quickly. But every so often there is a catchy song or funny character that catches my interest. At least for a while, then I’m back to playing with my toys.

I do check back on the TV, just to see if anything new or interesting is on.

Feeding myself

You know how I’ve been eating more finger foods, right? Well, we went all in today and my entire dinner was finger food tonight. Mommy and Daddy let me feed myself. One reason is to help my practice using my hands and to feed myself. Another reason is to see ho much food a need when I’m in control of the amount and speed. It is no surprise that I ate a lot, but you may be surprised to hear that I did not clean the plate. I ate enough to be full but did not stuff myself.

Something that became apparent when I was eating is that I have preferences. I ate a little bit of everything to start off, but then I focused on the things that I like in the order that I like them. I ate all the bread first, then the carrots and potatoes, and then nearly finished the chicken. The broccoli and green beans were a bit hard to eat so there was a bit left over.

Mommy and Daddy had to remove my plate for a bit because I started to play with it and tried to flip it over. So I ate food off of my clean table for a bit, then I used the plate again. Then I started to play with it again and got upset when I wasn’t allowed to flip it over.

Getting the bath ready

I’m joining Mommy and Daddy for more and more activities during the day. I follow them wherever I go, so it only makes sense that I help them while I’m there. Today, I helped Daddy get the bath ready. I was fascinated by the water as it filled the tub. It’s nice to see the where the water comes from before I take my bath.
