Trying to escape chair

We sometimes refer to my chair as the “happy chair” because that is where I eat and when I eat I am happy. But we forget that once the food is gone, it is no longer a “happy” chair, but just a chair. I don’t want to sit in just a regular chair. So recently I have been trying to escape. I’ve gotten my legs out a couple of times and managed to stand up, but my straps have been tightened since then. Still, I try to escape until I am set free.

Stalking prey

I’ve very good at supported walking. I can hold on to the coffee table and sidestep around it. I usually do this to try to reach something that Mommy and Daddy have put out of my reach. This is often their phones or the remote. But today I saw Mommy eating some delicious looking breakfast so I started to stalk my prey.

Couch time

These days, I spend a lot of time on the couch. I’m not vegging out or being lazy or anything like that. I’m always very active. I’m climbing, exploring, searching for hidden phones and remote controls, and in general very busy. The couch is not a place to sit and relax for me. It is a place of fun and adventure!

Pinning and riding Daddy

It is fun to horse around, but it is important that no one gets hurt. I think I may be too strong. I may have to dial it back a bit. Poor Daddy. Not only did he get pinned, he might have lost some hair too.

Horsey back rides are starting to make it into our play rotation. I still can’t hold on very well, but when we move, Daddy holds me in place. It is fun, but still a bit unstable. I’ve got to work on my grip and balance.

Hamburger patties

I think I mentioned before that I’m practicing feeding myself by learning to eat finger foods. Mommy made me some hamburger patties to practice with. They were a good way for me to practice biting off small pieces because they were soft. But they were soft so the were easily squished in my strong grip. Things got messy very quickly. I think I was doing pretty good but Mommy and Daddy ended used a spoon to feed me. Maybe next time I need sturdier hamburger patties.

Toy box

I think my toy box is magic. No matter how many toys I take out the day before, they are alway magically back in the box when I wake up the next morning. It is amazing. Especially because I don’t just take toys out, I dump them out. I figured out how to tip the whole toy box over to get to all the fun stuff. But I usually start off the day with one or two toys at a time.

Yakiniku

Mommy and Daddy aren’t able to go out to eat very often. But they figured it was time to celebrate both of their birthdays with a yakiniku dinner! (Both of their actual birthday dinners were at home.). They figured that I’m big enough and well behaved enough to go out to eat. They were right.

I ate my dinner without problem, and was even patient enough in between bites for Mommy and Daddy to enjoy their dinner too. I was very well behaved and did not cause any trouble at all.

Although once my food was gone, I got a bit bored. Still, I did not fuss or misbehave. I sat in my chair like a good boy while Mommy and Daddy tried to entertain me while stuffing their mouths with yakiniku. I can’t wait until I get to eat yakiniku. It looked and smelled delicious!

I’m bored. Aren’t you done eating yet?

First bus ride

I went for my first bus ride today. There is a bus stop right outside our home. It is very convenient, but we hadn’t taken advantage of it before. Usually, we take the subway or train, but today we were going to someplace that was too close for a subway ride but a little far to walk. Hence, my first bus ride. Quick and convenient.

Banana bites

I love to eat bananas! They are some of the sweetest things that I get to eat. But I get so excited that I tend to take hug bites of the banana. Mommy and Daddy are worried about me choking if I take too big a bite, so they try to pull the banana away from me, but that just makes me lunge forward and take a huge chomp out of the banana. Daddy has to hold me back to control the size of my bites. After a couple of times I understand how big my bites should be and self manage.

Photographic FaceTime

I really enjoy my weekly FaceTime chats with Grandma and Grandpa! I’ve been a lot more interactive recently. I grab the iPad to try to play with them, I look behind it to try and see them, and I try to reach through the iPad to touch them. Sometimes when I touch the iPad screen I accidentally touch and swipe some buttons. I’ve muted myself, turned the camera off, changed apps, and even hung up on them. I’ve also taken pictures of our chat. Maybe that wasn’t an accident. Now I can see Grandma and Grandpa whenever I want!

Dinosaur Hunter

I am Mason, Dinosaur Hunter! I have successfully vanquished my first dinosaur, the terrifying tyrannosaurus rex. No dinosaur is a match for me, the mighty dinosaur hunter. Dinosaurs, be afraid, be very afraid! You are my sworn enemies! Muwahahaha!

Actually, I quite like dinosaurs. This balloon dinosaur was my play buddy for a while. This is all a big misunderstanding. It was an accident. I was just playing with him and then he popped. An honest mistake. Well, at least at the beginning. After he popped I kept playing with him and then his head ripped off. Oops. Maybe I am a dinosaur hunter.
