Heading to Hawaii

I was ready and eager to head to Hawaii! Although, it was already a long day by the time we left the house so I was I bit drowsy in the taxi on the way to the airport.

We got checked in quickly and without trouble. There weren’t any restaurants open in the international terminal, so Daddy picked up some bento from the convenience store and we ate at a table we found on the third floor. It was a great seat because I could see the highway from there. I was very slow to eat dinner because I was watching and commenting on so many vehicles on the highway. But I did finally finish eating and did have some time to have fun being silly as well.

We got onto the airplane with no problem and I went straight to getting settled in. First I played with the iPad a bit, but after we took off I was attached to the entertainment system. It was like having my own TV.

When dinner came I ate my favorite parts, but decided not to eat too much. Last trip I through up from eating to much and having some motion sickness. I was fine this time. While watching a moving on my screen I eased into a nice sleep. The flight was quite short, so I didn’t get a full night’s sleep but I did get a full flight’s sleep and did not wake up until they turned the lights on the in the cabin again.

I was so excited that there was a bus waiting for us when we arrived in Honolulu. I rode so many vehicles today.

We zipped through passport control and customs and headed to the interisland terminal.

I had not trouble finding things to entertain me while we waited for our next flight. I did a lot of plane watching and airport vehicle watching. I saw some luggage towing cars, push-back tractors, and even a regular truck or two.

When we got onto our final flight of the day I was content to playing with the two cars that I brought on our trip with me. I only stopped playing to drink the juice that was served on the airplane. Then before I knew it, we were on Kauai!

Making noise

I was acting silly at dinner and was making strange noises. The main reason was that I wanted to watch the video of me doding something silly.

Even though I was having fun at dinner, I was actually eating too. I enjoyed the beef stew! But I got some meat stuck in between my teeth so I had to floss a bit.

Then, with my mouth clear of any food remnants, I got some dessert! Yum!

Indoor play

It was another rainy day so we spent the day inside. We started off the day with panel theater. Our teacher told a story on a felt board. What was even better was that the story was about all kinds of cars and trucks. That’s why I could hardly stay in my seat.

We also played with stickers and did some coloring.

But even though these things were a lot of fun we needed to move around too. So we played “moving” where we were all turtles working for a moving company and helped move furniture and boxes into the new house. It was so much fun!

No pool for me

As expected, I declined to join pool day today. We had to wear swim caps to play in the pool and I refused to do so. I was okay with my decision, which just means that my determination to be stubborn was stronger than my want to play in the pool.

Everyone else seemed to have a great time in the pool but I was fine not joining in. Mommy and Daddy had a talk with me after school and found out that it is not just that I don’t like swim caps, I don’t like the one I have. It is tight and feels uncomfortable. Mommy and Daddy asked if I would wear a swim cap that was more like my friends one that looked like a cap. I said yes. So we are going to search for a better swim cap for me before the next swim day.

Swim cap

Tomorrow is pool day at school. I didn’t go in the pool at school all last year because I refused to put on my swim cap, which we needed to wear to go into the pool. Daddy tried to get me excited about wearing my swim cap by showing me his from when he would go to the community pool to swim. I thought it was funny! But he explained to me that it is for health that we need to wear swim caps. I tried mine on again, but I’m not sure if I’ll wear it tomorrow. We will have to see.

Daddy picking me up from school

Daddy had to pick me up from school today so that Mommy could work late so he went in early. He explained everything to me so I was okay with it, but I wanted to see him off.

At school practiced our dexterity. We used chopsticks, counted beads, cut paper with scissor, and put little sticks into tiny wholes. It required a lot of skill and concentration, but it was still a lot of fun.

When Daddy picked me up I rushed into his hands. He asked me a few questions, but I didn’t answer him in front of my teacher. I don’t talk to Mommy and Daddy in front of my teachers and I don’t talk to my teachers in front of Mommy and Daddy. But when they are separate I talk to them a lot. So as soon as we said goodbye to my teacher and went out the door I started to chat Daddy’s ear off.

As always we had a nice chat on our way home. I like talking to Daddy on the way home and spotting all kinds of cars.

When we got home we had a good dinner and then while Daddy was cleaning up, I played nicely all by myself. I understood that Daddy had something to do and that he would come and play with me once he could.

When we got home, Daddy put some googly eyes on some of my cars for me. I thought it was cute and funny! It gave them all a bit of personality.

Practicing going to sleep.

Saying good night to my googly eyes cars.

Screaming haircut

I had to get a haircut today. I don’t like haircuts because it can be very prickly and uncomfortable, but I refuse to wear the cape. So I wear one of Daddy’s old shirts. Even though I was watching YouTube and got to eat jelly as I usually do, I was not happy with today’s haircut. Maybe I was tired and not in a good mood, but I was not cooperating. At one point I was literally screaming!

It was a traumatic experience. But we got the job done. Daddy said that he did not want to go through that again and said that next time he is just going to take me to the barber. But I did not like that idea. I didn’t want someone else to cut my hair. I started panicking and saying, “Mason likes haircuts. Cut my hair.” I even went to pick up the scissors and give it to Daddy. But we were already done. So I guess we’ll have to wait a couple of months to see who cuts my hair next.

After I had time to calm down and got all the hair off of me, I was feeling a lot better.

And my hair was looking good!

Goofy day

I was in a goofy mood from the morning. I was making funny faces, funny sounds, and I did some goofy singing too.

I played a bit outside.

I have had a bit of a runny nose for a while now but I don’t like blowing my nose. Most of the time I suck in instead of blowing out. So we practiced blowing my nose a bit. I think I get it now. But I still don’t like blowing my nose.

Yummy somen for a hot summer day’s lunch.

Daddy treated Mommy and me to some Starbucks. But he left to finish some grocery shopping. While he was gone I missed him. I called out “Daddy, I love you!” in the middle of Starbucks. But of course he couldn’t hear me.

It was a nice day. But I had to get my haircut. All those happy thoughts were soon to be erased.

Dinner out

We went out to the city for dinner today. There was a lot of good food to be eaten. Not only did I eat a lot of meat, but I also had some ikura sushi too. I think all restaurants should have ikura sushi on the menu. You can’t go wrong with it.

For some reason I saw the lemon that came with the karaage and said that I wanted to taste it. Mommy and Daddy gave me fair warning that it was sour and that I wouldn’t like it. At the last second I decided that I should listen to them this time and I didn’t taste the lemon.

When we finished dinner we were surprised to see that it was still bright out. The days are really getting longer in the summer. We stopped by a festival to see if they had dessert for me but they didn’t. So we went to a convenience store near home to get me ice cream instead. It was a big ice cream cone but I managed to eat the whole thing!

And just to end things on an exciting note, I made Daddy do some dynamic sleeping poses with me at bedtime.

Big day

I knew that I had a big day ahead of me so I requested a big breakfast to give me the energy I needed. Along with my usual breakfast of fruits, bread, and banana yogurt, I requested a fried egg and sausages. I ate everything.

We had storybook time today and the book was about left and right. So we practiced raising our left and right hands. Well, some of us did.

We had English class today and we practiced our number, colors, and body parts. We also sang The Itsy Bitsy Spider! I was happy because I know that song and sing it with Daddy.

Our walk was cut short because it started to rain. It was okay. We still had a lot of fun at school.

At home I had some time to play before dinner so I broke out the Lego and started making all kinds of creations.

The bar and fingerpainting

Even though it was not our usual gymnastics day, we practiced the bar today. It was not our special gym teachers helping us, but our school teachers. It made it easier for me to participate. Even though I haven’t had much practice (because of opting out all the time) I did pretty good.

We did some finger painting today too. I was very careful about mixing the paints and applying them to the paper with the least amount of mess possible.
