Car shopping

We had to go shopping to pick up things like diapers and breakfast foods, but also because Nana said that she would take me to get some new Hot Wheels. I was very excited about that. We all hopped in the car and headed to the store.

I think we went through every single Hot Wheels car there. We finally found the cars that I wanted. I was very thankful and couldn’t wait to play with them. Once we got home I was back to playing with Hot Wheels, old and new.

Backyard adventure

After lunch Papa went to the backyard to do some yard work and get the hammock. When I saw him, I said that I wanted to go outside too. I just followed him around and bit and helped with the yard work.

Then I saw the hose and wanted to play with it. Papa turned the hose on for me and I started shooting it all over the place. Papa gave me some targets and I did a really good job shooting them down. Everyone was impressed because the garden hose trigger is big and hard to press and there is a lot of water pressure too, but I aimed it really well.

Mommy came outside to hangout with me and we went to play in the hammock. I liked it when Mommy came to sit next to me on the hammock and made roll down toward her because of the weight distribution. I made her do that so many time.

Then I went back to playing with the garden hose. I was having a ball playing with the garden hose until my curiosity got the better of me. I was pointing the hose at my face and pulled the trigger…twice. I got soaked and quite surprised. I cried a bit and Mommy took me inside to get changed. I enjoyed playing with the garden hose but did not like how we left things. I wonder if I’ll have the courage be back out there to play with it again. We’ll see.

For now the iPad seems safer.

Long sleep

I had a nice long sleep. I had about a 13-hour sleep. I needed it. What a long day of traveling and then so much fun with Nana and Papa. I woke up a couple times in the middle of the night and then at five in the morning, but went back to sleep without trouble, even though I’m sleeping in another room. Mommy just came in to put me back to sleep.

When I woke this morning I was in a happy mood. I was happy to see everyone and went right to playing with my Hot Wheels again. I ate some fruits and yogurt for breakfast, and then went right back to playing with my Hot Wheels. I can get used to this routine.

On Kauai

All of our flights went smoothly and we arrived on Kauai without any trouble. I was a great little traveler and did not cause Mommy and Daddy any trouble during our trek.

As usual, Nana was waiting for us at the baggage claim and for once I was actually awake to see her. I usually fall asleep on the inter-island flight to Kauai but this time I was awake the whole time, taking in the scenery outside and playing with my toy cars on the tray table, armrest, and other parts of the plane.

When I saw Nana I was so happy to see her that I didn’t know how to react so I pretended to be asleep. An odd choice, but I went with it.

She brought me a toy which I was happy to receive, but I had a lot more fun playing “tap” with her. It is a game that she and I created during my first visit when I was a little over one year old. We would tap each other and get a kiss or tap each other like tag and have to tag each other back. We were tapping each other in the baggage claim while Daddy went to get our luggage.

The luggage came very quickly so we were able to call Papa to pick us up and head home. I was happy to see Papa too, but still a little shy. I was quiet on the ride home, but I perked up a bit when we talked about lunch. It was almost three in the afternoon, but we hadn’t eaten lunch yet. We decided to go get Burger King.

Once at Nana and Papa’s house we went straight to the dining room to eat lunch and I ate quite well. But I was having more fun just interacting with Nana and Papa. Then after lunch I took Nana with me to the toy cabinet and asked her if I could take out the Hot Wheels. She said I could and then after getting all the cars out on the carpet I invited her to play with me.

We were playing for a bit when Mommy and Daddy said that we had to go pick up some things for tomorrow. I told them that I wanted to stay home. Nana said she would watch me. Papa was going to drive Mommy and Daddy to the store, but I said that I wanted him to stay home too. So I got my grandparents all to myself while Mommy and Daddy headed out shopping.

When they came home they found all three of us on the floor playing with Hot Wheels and Magna-Tiles. Every trip we make to Nana and Papa’s house it takes me less warming up time to them and the house. I just made myself at home.

Of course making myself at home includes making myself at home in the backyard as well.

But I also had to explore the house again and make it my own.

I took a bath before dinner, just to get all the travel grime off of me so that I could have dinner while fresh and clean. I ate quite well, considering that I just had lunch a couple of hours ago. I ate a lot of beef from the beef stew and had salad with the dressing Papa likes. It was sweet and made the salad so good that I had seconds.

Then for the next stage of my bedtime routine Nana read me my books then it was off to bed. I was asleep in no time. It was a long day for me, but I was such a happy and fun day. I can’t wait to see what the rest of the trip will be like!

Potty conversation: healthy food

While on the potty on told Daddy that I was able to poop. He said that was good. I said it was because I had a lot of water and Daddy agreed that drinking a lot of water probably helped. We had an interesting conversation about health:

Me: Water is healthy, yeah.
Daddy: Yes, it is.
M: Salad is healthy, too?
D: Yes, it is.
M: What about pizza?
D: No, pizza is not really healthy. But it is so delicious!
M: So delicious. What kind of car do you like? (refering to foam cars in the bathroom)
D: I like the delivery truck.
M: I like the ice cream truck. Is ice cream healthy?
D: No, it isn’t. But it is yummy.
M: So yummy, yeah.

Hats and packing

We are leaving for Hawaii today, but we had some time to play before we headed out. I went through our luggage to make sure we packed everything and found Mommy’s hat. Or maybe it is my hat. It looks too good on me to be someone else’s.

I was a very good boy and played nicely by myself as Mommy and Daddy finished up packing.

Heading to Hawaii

I was ready and eager to head to Hawaii! Although, it was already a long day by the time we left the house so I was I bit drowsy in the taxi on the way to the airport.

We got checked in quickly and without trouble. There weren’t any restaurants open in the international terminal, so Daddy picked up some bento from the convenience store and we ate at a table we found on the third floor. It was a great seat because I could see the highway from there. I was very slow to eat dinner because I was watching and commenting on so many vehicles on the highway. But I did finally finish eating and did have some time to have fun being silly as well.

We got onto the airplane with no problem and I went straight to getting settled in. First I played with the iPad a bit, but after we took off I was attached to the entertainment system. It was like having my own TV.

When dinner came I ate my favorite parts, but decided not to eat too much. Last trip I through up from eating to much and having some motion sickness. I was fine this time. While watching a moving on my screen I eased into a nice sleep. The flight was quite short, so I didn’t get a full night’s sleep but I did get a full flight’s sleep and did not wake up until they turned the lights on the in the cabin again.

I was so excited that there was a bus waiting for us when we arrived in Honolulu. I rode so many vehicles today.

We zipped through passport control and customs and headed to the interisland terminal.

I had not trouble finding things to entertain me while we waited for our next flight. I did a lot of plane watching and airport vehicle watching. I saw some luggage towing cars, push-back tractors, and even a regular truck or two.

When we got onto our final flight of the day I was content to playing with the two cars that I brought on our trip with me. I only stopped playing to drink the juice that was served on the airplane. Then before I knew it, we were on Kauai!

Making noise

I was acting silly at dinner and was making strange noises. The main reason was that I wanted to watch the video of me doding something silly.

Even though I was having fun at dinner, I was actually eating too. I enjoyed the beef stew! But I got some meat stuck in between my teeth so I had to floss a bit.

Then, with my mouth clear of any food remnants, I got some dessert! Yum!

Indoor play

It was another rainy day so we spent the day inside. We started off the day with panel theater. Our teacher told a story on a felt board. What was even better was that the story was about all kinds of cars and trucks. That’s why I could hardly stay in my seat.

We also played with stickers and did some coloring.

But even though these things were a lot of fun we needed to move around too. So we played “moving” where we were all turtles working for a moving company and helped move furniture and boxes into the new house. It was so much fun!

No pool for me

As expected, I declined to join pool day today. We had to wear swim caps to play in the pool and I refused to do so. I was okay with my decision, which just means that my determination to be stubborn was stronger than my want to play in the pool.

Everyone else seemed to have a great time in the pool but I was fine not joining in. Mommy and Daddy had a talk with me after school and found out that it is not just that I don’t like swim caps, I don’t like the one I have. It is tight and feels uncomfortable. Mommy and Daddy asked if I would wear a swim cap that was more like my friends one that looked like a cap. I said yes. So we are going to search for a better swim cap for me before the next swim day.

Swim cap

Tomorrow is pool day at school. I didn’t go in the pool at school all last year because I refused to put on my swim cap, which we needed to wear to go into the pool. Daddy tried to get me excited about wearing my swim cap by showing me his from when he would go to the community pool to swim. I thought it was funny! But he explained to me that it is for health that we need to wear swim caps. I tried mine on again, but I’m not sure if I’ll wear it tomorrow. We will have to see.

Daddy picking me up from school

Daddy had to pick me up from school today so that Mommy could work late so he went in early. He explained everything to me so I was okay with it, but I wanted to see him off.

At school practiced our dexterity. We used chopsticks, counted beads, cut paper with scissor, and put little sticks into tiny wholes. It required a lot of skill and concentration, but it was still a lot of fun.

When Daddy picked me up I rushed into his hands. He asked me a few questions, but I didn’t answer him in front of my teacher. I don’t talk to Mommy and Daddy in front of my teachers and I don’t talk to my teachers in front of Mommy and Daddy. But when they are separate I talk to them a lot. So as soon as we said goodbye to my teacher and went out the door I started to chat Daddy’s ear off.

As always we had a nice chat on our way home. I like talking to Daddy on the way home and spotting all kinds of cars.

When we got home we had a good dinner and then while Daddy was cleaning up, I played nicely all by myself. I understood that Daddy had something to do and that he would come and play with me once he could.

When we got home, Daddy put some googly eyes on some of my cars for me. I thought it was cute and funny! It gave them all a bit of personality.

Practicing going to sleep.

Saying good night to my googly eyes cars.

Screaming haircut

I had to get a haircut today. I don’t like haircuts because it can be very prickly and uncomfortable, but I refuse to wear the cape. So I wear one of Daddy’s old shirts. Even though I was watching YouTube and got to eat jelly as I usually do, I was not happy with today’s haircut. Maybe I was tired and not in a good mood, but I was not cooperating. At one point I was literally screaming!

It was a traumatic experience. But we got the job done. Daddy said that he did not want to go through that again and said that next time he is just going to take me to the barber. But I did not like that idea. I didn’t want someone else to cut my hair. I started panicking and saying, “Mason likes haircuts. Cut my hair.” I even went to pick up the scissors and give it to Daddy. But we were already done. So I guess we’ll have to wait a couple of months to see who cuts my hair next.

After I had time to calm down and got all the hair off of me, I was feeling a lot better.

And my hair was looking good!

Goofy day

I was in a goofy mood from the morning. I was making funny faces, funny sounds, and I did some goofy singing too.

I played a bit outside.

I have had a bit of a runny nose for a while now but I don’t like blowing my nose. Most of the time I suck in instead of blowing out. So we practiced blowing my nose a bit. I think I get it now. But I still don’t like blowing my nose.

Yummy somen for a hot summer day’s lunch.

Daddy treated Mommy and me to some Starbucks. But he left to finish some grocery shopping. While he was gone I missed him. I called out “Daddy, I love you!” in the middle of Starbucks. But of course he couldn’t hear me.

It was a nice day. But I had to get my haircut. All those happy thoughts were soon to be erased.
