English and ice painting

We had our English lesson today and I had a great time. We practiced our colors and bug names. And we sang the Itsy Bitsy Spider. I know the song well, but I had a hard time with the hand movements.

Later we did ice painting. Our teachers froze some colored water on sticks and it made like a popsicle paint brush. It was pretty cool and it was cool.

Upperclassman and the bar

I really like taking care of the babies in our nursery school. Since I am an upperclassman I feel that it is my responsibility to take care of the kids that are littler than me. Some mornings I go around patting the babies or giving them hugs. If they cry I sometimes bring them a toy. We have a new baby at school and I made sure to make him feel safe and welcome.

I’ve been very resistant to participating in gymnastics class, but today I hopped up onto the bar. It was a big breakthrough for me. Up till now I “observed” or occasionally went up to touch the mat and bar. But today I actually joined in and did some work on the bar. Everyone was very happy for me and very supportive. It was all because when it was my turn, my teacher was about to go in my place, so I ran up and made sure I had my turn (even though I’ve always passed in the past). It was a small but important step for me in gymnastics.

Catching up and dinner

Daddy got done with work on time and actually caught up with Mommy and me on our way home. I was so happy to see him!

On the way home we saw the neighborhood stray cat. Daddy was trying to get it to come closer to us by holding out his and making a noise with his mouth. I try to help and did the same thing. The cat looked curious about us, but decided to run away instead of come and say hi.

It was nice that all of us were home at the same time so we decided to treat ourselves and we went out for dinner. I wanted to go to the restaurant with the fire truck. So that is where we went.

In Mommy’s shoes

I’m very happy to see Mommy when she picks me up from school. I appreciate all she does for me. It must be tough being a mom. I tried to see what it was like by walking a bit in her shoes. I don’t think I’m ready to be a mom yet.

Tonight I wanted to eat some hard-boiled eggs so Mommy made some just for me.

Daddy was being silly and put a towel on my head. I liked it. It made me look like I was a construction worker or something.

Chase and bugs

We fun at the park again today. We started off chasing our teacher around playing cops and robbers. And we finished off by looking for and looking at all kinds of bugs. I tried to find some grasshoppers, but there were none to be found. I did find some pill bugs and a lot of ants. I liked putting the pill bug on my hand and watching it crawl around. When it crawled off I would say, “Again” and put it back on my hand. Then later I followed them when they tried to run away from me.

Greenland

We went to Greenland today! No, not the country. It is a theme park. It is little over an hour drive outside the city, but there was little traffic and we got there without any problems.

Even though it was a Sunday, there were no crowds and that meant no wait times anywhere. It was a big change from when we went to Legoland. But I was quite reserved and there were not that many attractions that I wanted to ride. I was not sure if I would like them.

The first ride I tried was Water Shot and it was really fun. It was like a fire truck and Daddy and I shot water at different targets.

Next we tried Lady Bird. It looked cute and calm, but was actually a bit more exciting (or scary) than we expected. The turns were quite fast.

I was really excited about Drift Racing attraction. I drove a car really fast around track. What was nice was that there weren’t any other people there so I had the track all to myself. That meant I didn’t crash into anyone and I came in first! Yay me!

I had so much fun I just had to ride it again. So I went for a second race, this time in a fire truck. (I rode a police car the first race.)

After racing we kept walking and found a much more tame version of the Lady Bird ride. I was not scared of this one at all, but I did almost crash a few times.

After all that riding and driving I was famished. So we stopped to get a snack (and more ride tickets). I shared a delicious muscat ice cream with Mommy! It was so yummy on such a hot day.

We then headed to the go kart racing area, which was kind of the main reason why we came here. It was like the Legoland Junior driving but I wouldn’t have to ride alone. But when we got there I changed my mind and decided not to ride it. It was a bit loud because of the go kart engines and it smelled like gasoline. It was too much of an overload for my senses so we skipped the go karts. I found a nice little Shinkansen to ride instead.

After a lot more walking and passing on other rides, we found a train to ride. But it wasn’t a normal train, it was a monster hunting train. We had to shoot all these bad monsters that were terrorizing the Western frontier and steeling all the farm animals. We did some good shooting and saved a lot of animals from bad monsters.

We all were getting hungry so after passing on a lot of other attractions we decided to grab a bite to eat.

It was past midday and the sky was clearing up and it started to get pretty hot. We appreciated the shaded rest spots that had mist sprays.

When asked what I wanted to do next I answered Drift Racing again. That was without a doubt my favorite ride. So we decided to hop on the Road Train to catch a ride to that area.

Drift Racing
Race: Third Race
Vehicle: Highway Patrol Car
Place: First🏆 (out of 1 racer)

We didn’t ride that many rides but we sure did a lot of walking today.

We missed out on a couple of attractions that I wanted to try but we still had some ride tickets, so I went on Water Shot one more time, this time with Mommy.

I had a great time Greenland! I know that sometimes when riding rides and experiencing things, I’m concentrating so much on taking in the experience that it doesn’t look like I’m having fun. I often look very very serious. But I do really enjoy myself. It is usually revealed later in reflection. Without any prompting or preamble I said, “That was fun, yeah?” when walking back to our car. I’m sure we’ll return to Greenland again someday and hopefully I’ll be bigger and braver so that I can ride more rides.

Juice, peach pie and headbanging

After I ate all my dinner I had some juice that Daddy got for me and dessert. Daddy’s coworker got us all some pies and she got a peach pie just for me. I was so excited and happy! It was delicious!

The pie was so delicious and sweet that I had a bit of a sugar high and started headbanging because that’s what you do when you eat delicious desserts.

Subway station and color mixing

We visited the subway station today. Even though we didn’t get to see and trains, we were really excited just to be at the station. Maybe one day our walks will take us onto a train on off on a long adventure.

Back at school we had a lot of fun mixing paint and water and coming up with all kinds of color combinations.

Bunny

Mommy had a bunch of stuffed animals before me and I kind of just automatically adopted them. There were a bunch of doggies that she and Daddy won at claw games, but there are a few that she bought for herself, like Stella Lou whom she got at Tokyo Disneyland.

Sweet potatoes and gymnastics

Our sweet potatoes started to sprout so we made sure to give them a lot of water. We had a lot of fun taking turns using the watering cans.

We had gymnastics class today and as usual I opted to observe, but I did slowly make my way closer to the activity and give the bar and mat a touch showing my reserved interest in gymnastics. Even though I don’t participate in the gymnastics class with our gymnastics teacher, I do enjoy practicing the bar with our usual teachers. I’m getting close to being able to participate, but it is taking a very long time.

Silly bedtime

I get all excited and silly at bedtime. My bedtime routine prior to going to bed is quite quiet and calming. After my bath we read books and brush my teeth. But then when it is time to head to bed I get all hyper. It is Daddy’s fault because at some point he turned a simple thing like depositing me into bed into something silly. Now I kind of expect it. Like placing me in bed and then entering into the kneeling apology pose, saying, “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, oh so sorry.” Eventually I calm down and get to sleep but maybe there is a better way to start my bedtime.

Train tracks park

We went to a different park today and it was really cool because it was near the train tracks and we got to see a lot of trains passing by. Not to mention that on the way I saw a cement mixer truck and was so excited to tell my teachers about it. At the park there were also a lot of white clover around for us to look at and pick. It was a very big park so we also had a lot of room to run around as well.
