Ants and cops and robber

At the park we started off by checking out the different bugs that we found. There were a lot of ants that were fascinating and we just squatted there watching them for a long time.

Then we played cops and robbers. Our teacher was the robber and we chased her all around the park. I was quite fast and caught her many times.

Later at lunch I recalled our time at the park and told my teacher, “Playing cops and robbers was fun!”

Potty training success

I’ve been in serious potty training for a couple of months now with mixed results. I’ve been doing quite well at school, doing poopy in the toilet here and there. First it just started with me going to the potty area at school on my own and then pooping in my diaper. Then I gradually started to do poopy in the potty.

Today, I told Mommy and Daddy that I had to do poopy, and they asked if I wanted to use the potty or not. I usually say no, but today I said yes. So they took me to the potty and without waiting for too long I had a successful poop in the potty! It was a momentous occasion in our household. Mommy and Daddy were very proud of me, and I was proud of myself as well. This was just the first step and I think I can do this more often now. Look out world, Mason is potty trained!

Nori tantrum

I threw a bit of tantrum today. I have these tantrums from time to time. Today’s tantrum is the nori tantrum, even though it is not necessarily about nori. I just didn’t want to stop watching TV to eat lunch. But I got all upset about the lack of nori involvement in lunch. Actually, I don’t really know what was going through my head. I just have tantrums and when I calm down I’m back to my sweet, happy self.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Today was Mother’s Day so the first thing we did was let Mommy sleep in. When I woke up, Daddy took care of me, fed me, and dressed me. When Mommy got up I helped her eat her donuts, as a good son should (even though I had my own a couple hours earlier).

We also presented her with some Mother’s Day sweets! She seemed quite happy about it!

Happy Mother’s Day, Mommy! You’re the best Mommy! Thank you for everything you do for me every day! I love you!

Spelling app

One app that I added to my goto list when i have iPad time is a spelling app called Endless ABCs. It is really cute and teaches you new words, how to spell, and the sounds and names of all the letters. I really like it and find it an interesting conversation starter for other subjects of learning.

Morning exercise before bedtime

My brushing teeth app has a morning exercise video that I assume is meant to be used early in the morning to help get you up and energized to face the day. I like to use it after I finish brushing my teeth and right before I’m supposed to calm down and go to sleep. Maybe right before bed is not the ideal time for exercise.

My birthday celebration dinner

When asked what I wanted to eat for dinner, I answered “meat” so we went out for yakiniku for my birthday celebration dinner! We had a lot of fun and I ate so much!

Of course I ate a lot of meat, but I ate a lot of fruits and vegetables too from the salad bar.

But of course the biggest treat was the desserts! (Yes, plural). I don’t often get to eat ice cream, so when I do, it is big treat! I was very into the blueberry sundae!

It was a great birthday dinner celebration!

Going to the park in my new ride

We decided to head to the park today, and what better way to get there than by Mercedes. I was traveling in style!

At the park we had our usual fun on the slide and running around, but I also got to use my new bubble wand from Legoland! It was so cool that I could see so many bubbles floating up toward the sky!

We were also looking for bugs, specifically ladybugs at the park, but none were to be found. But when we got home and checked out our garden, I we found a ladybug, a black one. I was so excited and happy. I was able to hold it a bit before it flew off to go tell its family that it spotted a Mason.

Washing hands

I’m very good about washing my hands. We always wash our hands at school and I always remember to wash my hands when we get home and before meals. Daddy showed me how to wash both sides of my hands and between my fingers and each individual. I also know that I’m supposed wash my wrist but I’m exactly sure who taught me how to wash my hands like a surgeon all the way up to my elbows.

Birthday dinner

Both Mommy and Daddy came to pick me up from school today. That is rare. I was really happy to see both of them! We were all going out to dinner for my birthday. I had fun just walking there.

But when we got to the restaurant, I changed my mind and said that I wanted to eat at home. I didn’t feel like going out today. Since I’m the birthday boy we decided to head home and go out for dinner some other night. But we spotted a candy store on the way home and I was allowed to pick out some candy for my birthday. I got some caramel corn, some chewy candy in a Shinkansen container, and a poop lollipop (that was my favorite).

At home we had a simple, but intimate family dinner. And then I had my poop lollipop!

It was just the kind of birthday that I wanted! We didn’t have to do anything special for me to feel special and loved. What a great 3rd birthday!

Birthday at school

We already had a birthday celebration for May birthdays earlier, but today was a mini birthday celebration just for me. There was a special interview where my teacher asked me about my favorite things. When asked what my favorite toy was, my answer did not change from earlier this week: bus.

The day actually did not start off so great. I cried in the morning. I think I was feeling a little sad after spending so much time surrounded by family during the break, going to school was a little lonely, even if I was surrounded by friends and teachers. My teachers helped comforted me, but gave me some space. I went over to the window to watch some cars go by and when I felt better I eased over to go play with some toys. My friends were happy to play with me and I received many birthday wishes.

Today we had our English lesson and learned about a lot of things like colors, vehicles, and how to introduce ourselves. I still really enjoy English lessons but I still haven’t quite realized that we have a new English teacher. Maybe I notice someday.

Birthday morning

It’s my birthday! I’m three years old! That doesn’t change the fact that I’m very sleepy. Maybe I’m growing again. After all, I’m one year older.

I woke up sleepy this morning, but I just sat on the couch, nestled against Daddy with his arm around me and I ate my breakfast. I eventually woke up and was ready for my birthday. Although, I was a bit confused because we had a big family birthday party earlier this week, so this normal school day is comparatively a bit anti-climactic.

Daddy pickup

Mommy had to work late today, so Daddy left work early to pick me up. I was very independent and put my socks on by myself, said goodbye to my teacher, and then put my shoes on all by myself. When we were in the school I didn’t say much, but once Daddy and I left I was a little chatter box. I just at to tell him about everything I did that day and tell him about everything that was on my mind. It was a very fun and communicative walk home.

When we got home Daddy made dinner and we had pleasant (and chatty) meal together.

We had a great time together and we had a lot to tell Mommy when she got home. But even then it was Mason-Daddy time. We’re just buddies and do a lot together. This is us calming down and getting ready for bed.

Yeah, we are pretty much always playing together.

School walk

On our walk at school we spotted a cat in the park. It caught all of our attention. We love spotting different animals on our walks. (Although I prefer to spot different cars on our walks.)

It is getting pretty warm so we made sure to take breaks in the shade while playing in the park. This is me and my friend just chilling under a tree.

Aji fry dinner and mango jelly

Daddy got off work relatively early and Mommy and I were still on our way home when he arrived at the station, so we decided to stop by our local teishoku restaurant so that I could get an aji fry (fried horse mackerel) meal. As always I ate everything up. Remember, that this is a normal set meal, not a kids’ sized meal.

Daddy’s coworker brought back some mango jelly from a trip and gave some to me. Mommy and enjoyed it as a dessert after our meal.

Birthday party at school

Today at school we had a birthday party for May birthday kids, so that included me. I think I surprised everyone when I agreed to wear my birthday crown because I am not necessarily known for my cooperative nature when it comes to wearing accessories and costumes. I enjoyed our little birthday party. When asked how old I was, I proudly answered “Three” and held up three fingers to emphasize the point. When I was asked what my favorite toy was, I answered “Bus”.

We also had gymnastics class today and once again I opted to observe. But I was brave enough to touch the bar and vault when it was my turn to do gymnastics. These are baby steps for me.

Cars, assemble

When I got home from school today, I just had to hop on my Mercedes for a mini drive in the living room. I also assembled some of my old cars and new cars to have a bit of a meet and greet so that everyone was properly introduced. It would make it easier for everyone to play together.

At the park

It was nice to be back at school and see all my friends and teachers. I told them about my trip to Legoland and how I rode an airplane. It might sound confusing because of course I rode the Shinkansen to Nagoya, but at Legoland Daddy and I flew and airplane and that is what I told my friends about.

We had fun at the park today playing cops and robbers, playing with balls, and looking at all kinds of cool rocks. There were so many rocks to look at that the time just flew by.
