Setsubun

Today is Setsubun and we learned about the origin of the celebration and the meaning of the changing of the seasons. After sitting nicely and learning about this, some of us did mamemaki and threw beanbags at an ogre poster. They wore masks to do this so I chose not to participate.

After that we all went for a walk.

Good thing we did. During that time, an ogre visited our school! But our older class kids took care of that ogre and chased it and all the bad luck away. Thank you!

English lesson and colorful noodles

We had our English lesson today and as usual had a lot of fun learning. I’m often the first if not the only person to answer the English questions, but today it was a new topic for me so I really concentrated on learning the new words.

We made colorful noodles today. My teacher asked me what kind of noodles they were and I informed her that they were spaghetti noodles. Don’t they look bright and yummy?

Jumping and clay

It was a rainy day today so we couldn’t go out for our walk. But that doesn’t mean we didn’t stay active. We had a lot of fun playing on the gym mats and we did a lot of awesome jumping. Then we had some calmer play time with clay. Even when the weather is bad, we have a great time.

New “Sonic” shoes

My new shoes arrived today! My old ones were getting quite beat up and holes started to appear where parts of the shoes fell off. I only had them for about half a year but they get pretty well worn. So I needed new shoes and found a pair that I liked online. They are Sonic shoes, as in they are designed like the special rapid train that runs in Fukuoka called the sonic.

Look how well the made the shoes! Nearly every detail is there. I was surprised that it didn’t actually come with its own tracks to run on as well.

The shoes fit nicely and I was so happy and excited about them! I can’t wait to wear them!

Concrete mixer

At the park today I noticed a concrete mixer and was fascinated by it. I like all construction vehicles. I noticed the lights were flashing so I wondered if it would start working but it did not.

After watching the concrete mixer a bit I went to play with my friends. We ran around a bit. Then I asked my teacher to help me find some pill bugs. Look as we might, we did not find any. I guess we’ll have to try again tomorrow.

“I love you, House”

I’ve been in a very loving mood these past few weeks. I tell Mommy and Daddy “I love you” out of the blue nearly every day. I also tell them that I’m happy and check to see if they are happy. I’m just a loving happy boy. Today I told my stuffed doggy, House, that I loved him. I sitting on the couch with him and playing and then just said, “I love you, House.” After all, he is my buddy. He has been with me since I was born and is always there to comfort me, play with me, and be my buddy. I’m so happy that I can express how I feel to him through words as well as actions.

Shrine visit

We met up with Baaba, Jiiji, and Obachan and visited a shrine together. It was different than the shrine we usually go to. There was this weird mouth passageway, which it is known for. The weather wasn’t great, but we still had fun.

After the shrine visit we all came home and had lunch together.

Baaba, Jiiji, and Obachan are always happy to see me and surprised at how much I’ve grown. They are especially impressed by how much I have to say these days. I can be quite the chatterbox when I’m with familiar company.

Hamburger truck

I got a hamburger truck yesterday. I have wanted it for quite some time now. I have a calendar that shows different Tomica (read Japan HotWheels) every day. I skipped ahead and saw that there is a hamburger truck. I’ve been wanting it for a while. So I dipped into my savings and we went to buy the hamburger truck. I was so happy! My favorite toy combined with my favorite food. It doesn’t get better than this.

Starbucks?

I mentioned before how Daddy treats Mommy to new drinks at Starbucks and I like to get a taste. But sometimes there are drinks that I can’t drink, like ones with nuts. (I haven’t tried nuts yet so we don’t know whether or not I’m allergic). In those cases, Mommy and Daddy make sure I have my own special drink so I don’t feel left out. Today I got some Qoo apple jelly drink.

Hamburger sandwich

Often when I’m asked what I want to eat I will answer “hamburgers”. I really love hamburgers. So I was so happy when Mommy made hamburgers for dinner tonight. We didn’t have hamburger buns, but I’m there for the meat so I didn’t mind at all.

I ate everything up and was still hungry so I had some blueberry yogurt for dessert.
