Staying home from school

I still had a fever today, so I had to stay home from school. Daddy took the day off to watch me. We had a great time. We played, watched videos, chatted a lot, and just had a great time.

I didn’t really act sick. You would never have guessed that I was sick if it weren’t for my fever.

But I was more tired than usual. In the afternoon I was looking a bit run down so Daddy suggested that we relax in bed a bit. I didn’t want to take a nap, but lying down sounded nice.

I ended up napping.

The day of “rest” was good for me and my fever was gone by the evening. And it almost appeared like I was faking my sickness the whole time because I did not act like I was sick.

Fever

I’ve been a bit under the weather these past few days. I actually went home early from school on Friday because of a runny nose, cough, and a mild fever. I have been in a considerably good mood, but just a bit run down with a smaller appetite than usual. But today my fever got really bad, about 39°C (102.2°F). You wouldn’t have guessed from how I have been acting, but I just started burning up.

Mommy and Daddy figured a nice long warm bath would do me good, so we filled up the tub and brought some shows in to make me feel better. It was a nice treat.

Park picnic and play

We decided to go to the park for a picnic today. It was quite nice outside and we had a great lunch. Then we had a lot of fun playing. I am a creature of repetition so we did the same things over and over. Daddy and I sat on these rocking bugs and I kept making him switch bugs with me every few seconds. It is all part of the fun.

What a fun day!

Running

We did a lot of running at the park. We ran after balls. We ran after each other. We even had a race. But for the most part we just ran for the fun of it.

While at the park I also reported on the vehicles that we saw. “There is a mail truck.” “There is a truck.” “There aren’t any ambulances.” “There aren’t any police cars.” “There aren’t any fire trucks.” “There aren’t many emergencies today.”

I also collected some rocks to gift to my teacher. Two handfuls, five rocks each. She was happy to receive the gift!

Ice cream = haircut

Daddy came home earlier than usual today and found that Mommy and I had just finished dinner. As a treat, he suggested we go get some ice cream. I was very excited about this, but then paused and said, “No, buibui.” It took Mommy and Daddy a few seconds to understand what I was talking about, but then they got it. ”Buibui” is the sound the hair clippers make. I don’t really like haircuts, but I especially don’t like the hair clippers buzzing noise, buibui. I only tolerate it because Mommy and Daddy make special exceptions and try to reward me for getting my haircut. They let me watch YouTube and feed me a special dessert.

So today when I heard that I could eat ice cream I just assumed that meant that I was getting a haircut. Mommy and Daddy had a good chuckle and assured me that we were just going to get ice cream as a treat, no strings attached. Hey, you can’t fault my logic. Based on past experiences, I usually only get special desserts when getting a haircut. Anyway, I was happy to get a special dessert just for being a good boy.

The ice cream was delicious!

Kites and bubbles

Today was a sunny day so we went to the park to fly the kites that we made. It was so much fun! They really did fly! Well, they didn’t exactly soar, but they were off the ground for the most part.

We also played with bubbles. First our teacher blew bubbles and then we got to try. I was pretty good at it so my friends asked me to blow bubbles to show them how to do it.

“I love you”

These past few days when Daddy has been giving me my bath I have been randomly telling him “happy” out of the blue. We might be in the middle of a conversation or I might be getting my hair shampooed when I just say “happy”. Often more than once. I think this makes Daddy very happy to hear. Daddy says that he is happy to. Then I usually say, “Mason happy. Daddy happy. Mommy happy.”

Today when getting ready for my bath I suddenly gave Daddy a hug and told him “I love you”. This is the first time I ever said that not as a response or without any prompt. I think this made Daddy’s day. Or perhaps made his year.
