Ice cream = haircut

Daddy came home earlier than usual today and found that Mommy and I had just finished dinner. As a treat, he suggested we go get some ice cream. I was very excited about this, but then paused and said, “No, buibui.” It took Mommy and Daddy a few seconds to understand what I was talking about, but then they got it. ”Buibui” is the sound the hair clippers make. I don’t really like haircuts, but I especially don’t like the hair clippers buzzing noise, buibui. I only tolerate it because Mommy and Daddy make special exceptions and try to reward me for getting my haircut. They let me watch YouTube and feed me a special dessert.

So today when I heard that I could eat ice cream I just assumed that meant that I was getting a haircut. Mommy and Daddy had a good chuckle and assured me that we were just going to get ice cream as a treat, no strings attached. Hey, you can’t fault my logic. Based on past experiences, I usually only get special desserts when getting a haircut. Anyway, I was happy to get a special dessert just for being a good boy.

The ice cream was delicious!

Kites and bubbles

Today was a sunny day so we went to the park to fly the kites that we made. It was so much fun! They really did fly! Well, they didn’t exactly soar, but they were off the ground for the most part.

We also played with bubbles. First our teacher blew bubbles and then we got to try. I was pretty good at it so my friends asked me to blow bubbles to show them how to do it.

“I love you”

These past few days when Daddy has been giving me my bath I have been randomly telling him “happy” out of the blue. We might be in the middle of a conversation or I might be getting my hair shampooed when I just say “happy”. Often more than once. I think this makes Daddy very happy to hear. Daddy says that he is happy to. Then I usually say, “Mason happy. Daddy happy. Mommy happy.”

Today when getting ready for my bath I suddenly gave Daddy a hug and told him “I love you”. This is the first time I ever said that not as a response or without any prompt. I think this made Daddy’s day. Or perhaps made his year.

Indoor fun

It was rainy today so we couldn’t go for our walk at school. Instead we played on the trampoline. The trampoline was fun, but I enjoyed lining up for it more because it was like I was a train on a track.

We also made and decorated kites. We plan to fly them the next sunny day we have.

Shrine visit

On our school walk we visited the nearby shrine. I was not that excited since I had just been there a couple of days ago. But there were some new things to see. We all enjoyed looking at the different stalls that lined the streets nearby. We also enjoyed a monkey performance. Boy that is one talented monkey.

Gloves

We headed out to dinner, but the weather turned cold real fast. I was pretty cold so we stopped by a store and found these awesome police car gloves to keep my hands warm. I was very happy to have them!

With my toasty gloves on, I did not mind the walk to the restaurant and had a delicious and fun dinner!

Hatsumode

We went to a nearby shrine for hatsumode, or the first shrine visit of the year. Before we went Daddy was trying to teach me how to pray at the shrine. I did pretty good, but added my own silly twist to it.

The shrine visit went well. I even got my fortune and it was really good! Yay!

I also had a bit of a mini photoshoot as well.

I really like the family photos we took. I can be a real goofball sometimes.

Magnatile car transporter

Recently, there is more cross over with my toys when I play with them. One of my favorite things to do is make houses and car transporters for my HotWheels out of Magnatiles. I sometimes have Daddy make things for me based on the pictures on the box, but other times I come up with my own original designs.

Reach out and touch someone

I really miss Nana and Papa since we’ve been back in Japan. I have been asking about where they are. Daddy tells me they are in Hawaii, but I still don’t quite understand why they weren’t on the flight to Japan with us. It was nice to chat with them today, but it is not the same as being able to reach out and touch them. I tried, but it is not the same.
