Family dinner

We had a special “Welcome to Kauai” family dinner planned. The restaurant had hamburgers which I was really excited about. It was also only like 5 minutes away so there was no chance I was going to fall asleep during the car ride.

I fell asleep during the car ride. I didn’t wake up when Daddy took me out of the car seat. I didn’t wake up when we sat down. I didn’t wake up when the food came. I didn’t wake up when Daddy handed me off to Papa to carry me so that Daddy could eat. I didn’t wake up when we left the restaurant. I didn’t wake up when Daddy put me back in the car.

I didn’t wake up when we got home, so Mommy and Daddy thought I was down for the count so they put me in bed.

But before long I was up and seeking food. I just wanted a quick easy snack so I had some cheese and crackers.

By the way, those are not my feet in the picture.

After eating I was rejuvenated and started to play. I tried to get Daddy to play but realized he had fallen asleep. I guess it was a long day for him as well. We were all ready to go to back to sleep so after washing up it was off to bed.

What a great day! I am so happy to be on Kauai with family! We only spent half a day together and it was already so much fun and so memorable. I can’t wait to see what the rest of the trip holds in store for us!

On Kauai

We arrived on Kauai safely, Our flight to Kauai was uneventful. I wanted the window seat but once I sat down I spent the whole flight watching videos on the iPad.

We arrived on Kauai and Nana was there to greet us. It was possibly the first time I was still awake when we arrived. I was happy to see her, but shy. Papa pulled up with the truck and I was still shy. It took me a while to warm up but I was excited to be on Kauai.

First things first, we needed to get me some food since I had a very empty tummy. Papa bought me lunch and I was grateful. His reward was being the first to carry me. He didn’t carry me for very long because I was heavier than the last time he carried me. I am “Solid” apparently.

After picking up lunch and then we headed to Nana and Papa’s house.

When we got there I went wandering around the house and found my cousins and family, but I wasn’t quite ready for hugs and such. But after we ate lunch I was rejuvenated and ended up playing with everyone! It is so great to be on Kauai.

By the way, everyone noticed that I got much bigger!

With so much fun and catching up I needed a break! So I reclaimed “my chair” and relaxed with Papa a bit.

Aaah. So nice to be on Kauai!

Mini Christmas in Japan

We are heading to Hawaii today to celebrate Christmas with family. But we figured we should have a mini Christmas in Japan first.

I have been patiently waiting for the opportunity to open my Christmas presents that have been sitting under the tree for a while.

I got some really cool toys and some awesome books that I can bring on our trip to Hawaii.

Rough arrival in Hawaii

We safely arrived in Honolulu, but boy was the last leg of our trip tough. I got motion sickness on during the approach to Honolulu airport because of the turbulence. I had also eaten too much the night before so my tummy was a bit unsettled. Right after we landed, as the airplane was taxiing I threw up. It was surprising for me, I almost never throw up, but I didn’t cry or anything. Mommy and Daddy got me cleaned up, but then as the plane reached the gate I threw up again. So they got me cleaned up again and changed. I felt a little better by the time we disembarked.

We got through passport control and we were waiting for our luggage at customs and then I threw up again. So Mommy and Daddy cleaned me up again and changed me again. Then guess what. I threw up again once we passed through customs. So we were just about to drop our bags off at the interisland connection dropoff, and then I emptied the rest of my tummy. I got all my clothes messy and Mommy’s top messy. So we had to do a quick change outside the baggage dropoff, since there wasn’t a restroom nearby. Mommy had to peel off her dirty jacket and sweater. Luckily, it was hot in Hawaii and she was going to change to short sleeve either way.

And that was it for the throwing up. I had a settled and empty stomach, so I was in a much better mood. But I now realized the problem with being a good eater is that when you throw up there is a lot more to get out.

We breezed through security and a I was in a great mood when we got to the gate. I had a ball plane watching. I was very chatty, asking about every airplane that I saw. What kind of plane is that? What company? Look, a helicopter. Look, the suitcase fell off the trailer. Who is going to pick it up? Where did the suitcase go? Who is on the airplane? Look, at the airplane face. Funny.

“Where is the airplane going?”

“I don’t know. Maybe another island. Where do you think it is going?”

“Shopping”

Despite the throwing up, I still love airplanes and flying.

Toilet try

I’m still not toilet trained, but I have taken an interest in it. I still occasionally announce that I want to sit on the toilet. To give me the time necessary to possibly “go” Mommy and Daddy let me use the iPad, but it still did not happen this time. Maybe next time.

Missing Mommy and running around

I started off this morning at school missing Mommy fiercely. I was crying and telling my teachers, “I want Mommy.” It never really happened before. I eventually calmed down, but it was an unstable day. Little things like not getting to play with the toy I wanted triggered me to say, “I want Mommy,” and to start crying.

But all that was forgotten when we went to the park. We had another one of our chaotic chase sessions where everyone ran around not really knowing who was it. Tons of fun!

English lesson and a view

I always enjoy our English lessons at nursery school. It is my chance to use my English at school. I always have no problem answering Aaron-sensei’s questions. A lot of my classmates end up learning from my answers as well as Aaron-sensei’s lessons.

After our lesson we visited the prefectural office and enjoyed the city view. What a big city we live in!

Morning shows

Our current morning routine starts off with watching Carl’s Carwash on my Super Simple Songs app. I can watch the same episodes over and over again. I am not really a morning person but when Daddy wakes me up by saying, “Do you want to watch Carl’s Carwash” I rise in a zombie like fashion and we make our way to the living room to start the day.

Today was quite cold, but we all enjoyed taking a walk in the brisk air. Once we got to the park we started running around only to be distracted by the water puddles and wet leaves. Fascinating.

A nice walk really gets our appetite going so when we got back to school we were excited by all the savory aromas of lunch being cooked. So by the time it came out we were so hungry!
