Shopping and small Christmas party

We got together with my friend again today and started off with a trip to Costco. We all needed some things and the grownups were picking up sushi for dinner. It was not as entertaining for us kids, but we were okay with the wait because of my Super Simple Songs app. My friend also seemed interested in the English songs.

When we got home we had dinner together and exchanged gifts. I was so happy to get a new train! It was super cool! I was very thankful.

As always, we had a great time! You never know what kind of fun we are going to have.

Shoehorn and zipper

I’m getting to be quite independent. I like to do a lot of things on my own. Recently I noticed Daddy using the shoehorn in the morning so I wanted to copy him. I don’t quite get how to use it, but I plan to work on it. I am also quite good and zipping up my jackets. There was a point when Mommy and Daddy were getting me ready in the morning and they noticed that I had zipped up my jacket all on my own. The zipping part is not that hard but getting the zippy thing into fastener thing is not easy. But I can do it quite well now.

School recital

We had a school recital today. We had been practicing for quite some time and I was getting pretty good at the singing and dancing. But I don’t really like these events. There are too many people and too much pressure. And there are costumes to wear. As you can see, I actually made a lot of progress and wore the costume without crying at all. But I did not perform. I pretty much just stood there (in my costume) while my teachers and classmates sang and danced. What can I say? I’m not a performer. Still, it is a big accomplishment for me just to be up there and not crying. Mommy and Daddy were very proud of me and had nothing but praise for me.

I was happy to return from the front and just hang out with Mommy and Daddy. I was very relieved when the recital was finished.

I’m not great with crowds and that is fine. Apparently Daddy was not either. I did my best and came out unscathed. I hope I don’t have to do another one of these any time soon. I’m much more entertaining on a normal daily basis.

Shirt hat and potato song

We got home from a weeknight dinner out and I was in a great mood despite it being past my bedtime. I’m very chatting during my baths and even after I kept talking and singing. Tonight I sang the potato song. I do a pretty good job of memorizing the words and even the dance that the potatoes do in the video.

Wagyu

Mommy’s friend from when she lived in Perth was visiting Japan so we went out to dinner with her and her family. I was quite well behaved, mainly because there was so much good food. I had my first taste of really good (expensive) wagyu beef. It was so good it just melted in your mouth. I entered into a trance eating it and just rode the umami wave. Oh so good!

Mommy’s friend’s family were very nice and very willing to try all kinds of food. They even tried basashi or raw horse meat. They were game to eat anything and even went back for seconds of the more unusual food. It was a very fun evening full of good food and good company!

I also liked the fact that I could ride the subway on a weeknight. Yay!

Walk to the park

We had another nice walk to the park and once we got there we just kept on walking. But then, of course, walking was not enough so we started another game of chase. We even came up with variations like running backwards while still playing chase. It was a lot of fun!

Walking (hopping, flying) to school

Usually I am very lazy and like to be carried to school. That kind of works out because we are usually cutting it close on time and can’t wait for my short legs to get us to school on time. But every so often I prefer walking. This morning I was in a very energetic mood and wanted to walk (or hop or fly) to school.

I may have over done it because I got a bit tired and needed a rest on the elevator ride up to school.

Great view

On our walk today we went to the 11th floor of the prefectural office building. It was really cool up there. We could see very far and everything look so tiny. While up there I asked my teacher a lot of questions. Recently I ask a lot of “why” questions. Today I asked her why trains go. She answered that they take passengers to places they want to go. Then I asked her why passengers want to go places. A lot of our conversations start like this.

We also saw some ducks in the park on the walk back to school. I’m not sure which is more interesting: scenery from the 11th floor or ducks in the park. It’s a toss up.

Christmas and clay

Today was a rainy day so we spend it indoors. We started off with some Christmas songs. It may not look it, but I did enjoy it.

We also played with clay. It was quite sticky, but I had fun making different shapes with my clay.

At school my teachers were complimenting my haircut and I told them that I was able to do buibui. (That’s what I call hair clippers for the buzzing sound they make.). I don’t like hair clippers or haircuts, but I was proud that I was able to get my haircut.

Haircut

I’m not fond of haircuts. But I do know that it is necessary. I don’t like my long hair in my eyes. Mommy and Daddy give me treats and rewards when I get a haircut. I get to watch YouTube and eat sweets. It makes it a little more bearable.
