Ojisan, Obachan, and Baaba came over to the house to visit and after ignoring Ojisan for a long time, I finally came around and started interacting with him a bit. We even played together a little. Even with me pretending not to notice him, he seemed to enjoy his visit. He had a lot of fun watching me play and talk. When I finally warmed up to him we were able to take few cute pictures together.
There was an exhibition at the airport and Mommy’s brother was flying in to visit, so it was a good chance to go to the airport. When I saw Ojisan, I pretended not to notice him and played hard to get. He was very happy to see me but I gave him the cold shoulder. It is just my way of interacting (or not interacting) with him. It was fine though. He gave me space and we all headed to the exhibition. There were food and product stalls, but I bypassed all that and headed toward the windows. I wanted to watch the airplanes.
I saw all kinds of airplanes. I saw airplanes taking off and landing. I saw JAL airplanes and ANA airplanes. I saw huge jumbo jets and even medium sized turboprop airplanes. I was trying to tell Daddy about them and said “patapata airplanes” while twisting my hand to mimic the propeller. It took him a while to get it because the plane I was talking about was way off in the distance.
I also saw trucks working around the airplane. Some had luggage, others were delivering things. I even saw some buses. I was very excited to see those buses at the airport and talked a lot about them even after we left. It was a very fun and memorable visit to the airport.
We had lunch at a restaurant and the dessert that came with it was a chocolate cake for kids. It wasn’t too sweet and made from rice flour, which is why I wasn’t a big fan of it. I said that it was “Shoppai” or salty. I think it was because I don’t really know the word for bitter. It was not sweet but cocoa-y. I haven’t had much experience with chocolate, but I’m sure I’ll come around.
There was a small musical performance in part of our local art museum so we went to check it out. It was pretty cool. The two musicians played a guitar and accordion and sang a bunch of songs. I knew a few of them and other were new to me. It was a fun musical experience. Even though I didn’t really show it, I enjoyed the show. I sat and listened intently for the entire performance.
Today was a very clear and sunny day. At the park I noticed that there were no clouds in the sky. I asked my teacher, “Where did the clouds go?” She responded, “I wonder where they went. Where do you think they went?” To which I answered, “They probably went home.”
When we got to the park today we found that the sand was really hard. I told my teacher this and she appreciated the report. I then used the shovel to soften it up enough to play with. But at one point my friends and I got distracted and started playing in other ways.
We played train crossing at the park today. Our teacher or student would hold their arm out like a railroad crossing arm and we would wait until it opened before crossing.
Today at school I noticed one of my friends was crying. He was sitting in a chair and looked very sad. I went over and sat next to him and began stroking his arm to help him feel better. There are more and more moments like this at school where I show my empathy for my friends. It is hard to believe that a few months ago I had a hard time controlling my emotions and would occasionally hit and bite. I feel like I’ve come a long way in understanding and living with emotions.
On our walk we were very good when crossing the street. We followed our teachers’ instructions and made sure we crossed safely. On our walk we stopped by to check out a Christmas tree near the train station. It was a lot bigger than my Christmas tree at home, but I like my ornaments a lot better.
Once at the park I had fun playing in the sand after running around a bit.
Usually Daddy brushes my teeth in the morning but I felt like doing it by myself today. I think I did a pretty good job. Daddy did some brushing too, just to be safe.
We were having one of our very fluid conversations today and somehow we got to a point when we were talking about certain dancing moves. So, Daddy looked up some old-school J-pop on his phone. I was interesting but also not interested.
Just walking to the park and playing was not enough exercise for me and my friends. We also had to get some aerobics in. 1 and 2 and 3 and 4.
I must have overdone it because on the way back to school my legs were dragging. My teacher asked me if I wanted to ride in the buggy but I did not want to do that. I pushed through and kept walking. Once we got back to school I told my teacher, “I don’t like walking. I’m going to sit,” and I did.
Today we got into the Christmas spirit and decorated our Christmas tree! I’m getting better at it every year. For one thing, I can reach higher every year so I can cover more of the tree. But also I’m better at finding the best branches to hang the ornaments.
I was nice enough to let Mommy help me a bit here and there. But for the most part I decorated the entire tree by myself.
