Watching Minions sing “Banana”

We were talking about how much I’ve grown in the past year and how different I was this trip to Hawaii compared to last summer. Mommy and Daddy were telling me how my cousins Maimai and Tata entertained me by singing the “Banana” song. I didn’t quite remember it so they showed me the video of them singing it. Then I got interested so Daddy showed me the original video of the Minions singing “Banana”. I thought it was so funny!

Car omelette

Mommy does so much to make me happy. Today she made me a car omelette for dinner. Not only was it really cool, but it also had a lot of ketchup that I love! You would think that I may be hesitant to destroy and eat this masterpiece but I just dug in and gobbled it up.

Today when we went to the park I showed my teachers all the cool plants (weeds) that I found. They were very excited to receive them so I kept getting more to give them.

I also hung out with my boys. We just like loitering at the park.

Water play and pictorial books

Today the first thing I did when I got to school was tell my teacher that I wanted to read zukan, which are pictorial books. They are pretty much like picture dictionaries with a bunch of explanations about different things. Naturally the books I choose are all about vehicles.

Today we had water play. It was a lot of fun, but did not compare to the beach in Hawaii.

After water play I went right back to reading my zukan.

Back to school

It is good to be back at school. I was happy to see my teachers and friends. Apparently my classmates missed me to. My teacher said that my classmates were asking about me while I was gone.

I did surprisingly well in the morning despite having arrived back in Japan just last night. It pays to be young and an experienced traveler.

It is a little strange to be back in a Japanese-speaking environment, but it should be no problem for me to pick up from where I left off. I went right back to finding, pointing out, and saying the names of all the vehicles that I could.

Good to be home

It was a great trip and I miss Nana and Papa already. The whole trip home I kept asking about them. On the inter-island flight I asked Daddy where they were and he explained that they were at home. I nodded that I understood. But when we got to the international airport I didn’t see them around so I asked again. Daddy explained again that they were at home. I nodded my understanding. On the last flight home I ask about them several times and Daddy had to tell me that they were home. I think that is when I finally realized they weren’t on other flights or catching up with us later. They were actually just staying home in Hawaii while we headed home to Japan. If I had fully understood this I would have given them a better goodbye hug. Sorry, Nana and Papa. Thank you for a great trip and I hope to talk to you again soon! Love you!

Even though it was a great trip, it is nice to be home. I wasted no time getting reacquainted with all my toys.

We got home safely and on time. It was a lot earlier than our previous trips because we took a direct flight from Honolulu to Fukuoka. So that meant we got home at a decent hour and were able to have my usual nighttime routine not much later than usual. I hope this means that I’ll have no trouble going to school tomorrow. Mommy and Daddy have work tomorrow. I hope they’ll be okay too. We all have the great memories of an awesome trip so I think we’ll be fin.

Welcoming buses

When we arrived back in Japan, we grabbed our luggage and went outside to try and get a taxi. While waiting, I was so excited to see so many buses. It had been so long since I saw proper city buses, and there were so many of them at the airport. Bus after bus after bus! I was overflowing with excitement. Kauai is definitely paradise, but it is a bit shy on exciting vehicles like buses.

Flying home

We started the long trek home, but I’m such a good traveler it really wasn’t that hard. I love flying on airplanes and know how to follow all the rules. I even figured out my preferred seat is the window seat because there is more to see before and after take off.

I didn’t sleep on this flight, but I did get really drowsy right before we landed. So without a nap I was not in the best mood.

After we finished our first flight we got some lunch at the airport. It was so busy and I was quite hungry and tired that I had a bit of a tantrum, but was much better once I had some food in my belly. The spam musubi that Nana and Papa packed for our trip really helped get me fed and in a better mood. Then it was on to the next flight.

The next flight was the long one, but it went really smoothly. I watched some shows on my entertainment system, played with the iPad, read books, and chatted with Mommy and Daddy. And of course I dozed a bit.

I also ate a lot of the food during the meal service. There were fresh fruits (grapes and pineapples) so I was really happy. Mommy and Daddy generously gave me their share so I had a lot to eat!

I also finally got used to my headphones so I could enjoy my shows, games, and music! That was a game changer for me. I don’t know why I resisted using them for so long.

All in all it was an uneventful trip and we had no real trouble. I was well behaved on the long flight and either entertained myself or played nicely with Mommy and Daddy. I guess I’m just a natural born traveller.

Heading home

I’m very sad to say that our trip to visit Nana and Papa had to come to an end. Thank you so much for everything Nana and Papa! We had a great time! We love you! Sorry I didn’t give you guys a better goodbye hug but I just didn’t want to say goodbye and end the trip.

Relay for Life

We went to the Relay for Life charity even on Kauai today. There was a lot to see, a lot to do, and lucky for me a lot to eat. I really enjoyed just being myself in my own little world there.

It was nice because I got to spend a lot of time with Nana and Papa.

Part of the even was walking laps but we did not make it all the way around because for some reason I decided to try and take my pants off half way around so we had to come back.

In general, I just hung out with everyone. It was fun to be outside and have free range to wander around.

But I mainly hung around Mommy and Daddy.

Fish pond

We went to a charity event today and there was a fishpond there. Well, not a real fishpond, but a game for kids to get prizes. It was my first time fishing but I instantly got a bite. Hanapaa!

I got a nice bag of goodies. There were some snacks, toys, stickers, and a cute little cow finger puppet that I instantly liked.

I also found a ladybug at the fishpond. Cool!
