After beach

I had such a good time at the beach! I think Mommy and Daddy let me stay longer than planned because I was having such a good time. Naturally, I was exhausted and was quickly asleep nearly the moment we left the beach. I suspect Mommy, Daddy, and Nana will drive around a bit to let me have a longer nap. Kauai is so small that would be home in no time.

Beach day on Kauai

We finally went to the beach today! We’ve been so busy having fun at home we didn’t think about going to the beach. I was so happy that we were finally here!

But it took some time to get reaquainted with the beach.

Ooh, look, fish!

Taking the plunge

Daddy is my seahorse.

Up, up, in the air!

Swimming practice.

Let’s go there! Over there in the deep end!

Time for a snack and water break. Ooh, Nana has a nice spot in the shade.

Hey, whose toes are those?

Playing in the sand.

What a fun day at the beach! We were there a lot longer than we had planned. I was having so much fun it was hard to leave. I’m quite the beach baby. I definitely want to come back again!

Dinner at the Lanai

Having falling asleep in the car, I don’t remember how we got to the restaurant or our table, but I do remember being happy to see some food there when I woke up. I ate some fruits and bread and then perked up quite a bit. I wanted to go holoholo while waiting for our main course. So Daddy took me to explore the hotel grounds that were easily accessible from the restaurant lanai.

We walked around and then I found some chickens that I decided to chase. That was fine until the chickens got near the pool then Daddy got nervous. He didn’t think that I would “fall” into the pool but was worried that I would just jump right in.

We headed back to the table for dinner, but I was not that into my meal, even though it was really good. Maybe it was because I was consulted on the choice of kids meal and the count of me being fast asleep.

After a while I wanted to go wandering again. Mommy and Daddy tried to turn that into a family photo opportunity. I was not very cooperative. Here are some of the attempts.

As you can see there was a gem in the bunch. I think this is it.

When I heard that it was time for dessert I hurried back. Nobody told me that my meal came with ice cream. I was thrilled to have a pretty big serving of ice cream just for me!

What a great meal! Thank you Nana and Papa!

Tired boy

We were head out for a nice dinner and I naturally fell asleep during the car ride. I had been up since 4:30 and didn’t have a proper nap.

Mommy, Nana, and I were headed out to do some shopping and within a couple minutes I had fallen asleep in the car. So they took advantage of this and just drove around to let me have time to sleep, instead of waking me up to go grocery shopping. Coincidentally, about 45 minutes into my nap Daddy and Papa called to say they were finished with gold and wondered if they could pick up lunch for everybody. We decided to meet up at the supermarket so that everyone could choose something to eat. I woke up just about then and was in a pretty good mood, despite my nap being somewhat short, when we saw Daddy and Papa at the supermarket.

So I was exhausted. I even had a bath after the pool so I was nice and clean too. Naturally it was very easy to fall asleep. What surprised everyone was that I didn’t wake up when we got to the restaurant. Daddy picked me up out of the car, then we were all seated at the table, and even placed our orders and I remained asleep. I didn’t wake up until I was aware that there was some food on the table.

Backyard fun

Remember I mentioned that I took my Lego construction vehicle with me everywhere I went? I even took it outside with me to go play in the pool. But I was careful not to get it into the pool.

Daddy had picked up a can of foam spray that he used to draw pictures on the wall for me. I thought it was pretty cool. I had many picture requests for him, almost all vehicles.

It was getting hot so it was soon time to head into the pool. But instead of splashing around I just stomped around a bit.

New Lego

My thoughtful cousins, and aunty and uncle got me a cool Lego set for construction vehicle. It looked so cool that I could hardly wait to play with it as Daddy put it together for me.

Once he finished I literally carried it everywhere with me. Literally. It even came to the bath with me.

Sampling Mommy’s Starbucks

We had to run to the store to pick something up, and Mommy had a gift card from last year that she had to use up so she picked up a fruity drink. I had a sample taste and loved it. I had a few more sips after that as well and my sips got longer and deeper. Mommy watched as the level of her drink dropped with each sip. Don’t worry, I let her have most of it.

Around the house

I found Nana’s slippers and tried one of them on. They were very comfy and a pretty purple. I quite liked them. They were a little big, but I guess I will grow into them.

Picking up from where we left off in Japan, I like to hang out with Nana on the couch and play on the iPad with her. She has a lot of cool educational games and we always have fun talking about and laughing about what goes on in the game.

Ooh, snack time.

Opening the fridge

This is the beginning of the end for the grownups in the house. I know how to open the fridge. It sounds simple enough, but it is actually kind of difficult. The vacuum on the door is quite strong so I can’t just pull the door open. I figured out that if I open the freezer door first, which is easier, then I can open the refrigerator door. Despite this new knowledge, I’m not one to sneak snacks or bites of food without permission, even at home. I’m quite an honest eater.

Best seat

It is official. I found the best seat in the house. It is so comfy!

I usually take over Nana’s seat when she is not there but I wasn’t going to let her being there stop me. We were actually quite happy with the arrangement. I’ve been hanging around Nana a lot this morning. I’ve been following her around a bunch. I even followed her into her bedroom as she got ready to go out.

Where are we going? I’m glad you asked. We are headed to the beach! Yeah, we haven’t made it to the beach yet. We’ve just been having so much fun at home. You can read about it in the next post.

Nana time

With Daddy and Papa away at golf, I spend the whole morning with Mommy and Nana. It really gave me a lot of time to hang out with Nana. We played, read books, talked a lot, and just enjoyed each other’s company. Everything we did was fun. We came up with a “lie down” game. It was a lot of fun even though all we did was lie down on the bed. You had to be there.

Early morning

This jetlag is really messing with my sleep schedule. I woke up at 4:30 today. I went out of my room and found Nana and Papa awake in the family room. Apparently they are always up at this hour. Nana tried to get me back to bed, but I didn’t want to go. Then she asked if I wanted to go to Mommy and Daddy’s room, but I said no. So I just hung out with Nana and Papa in the early morning! It was a lot fun and just shows how comfortable I am around them even without Mommy or Daddy. I think Mommy and Daddy don’t want to make my 4:30 wake up time a habit, but they were happy to see how happy I was spending time with Nana and Papa. Daddy woke up around 6:30 to go golfing with Papa and he was surprised to see me wandering outside in the backyard with Nana. But that’s what us early birds do.

Gotta play with the pool

I just have to play with the pool. It is there just begging to be played with. I managed to stay out of the pool and only play with the water a little bit. I found a train in the house that was just like the Kilohana train I rode today. We think it was Lauren’s from when she was younger and rode the train. I adopted it as my own and decided that it needed to play in the pool.

Kilohana train ride

This morning we went on a train ride. I know what you are going to say, “There aren’t any trains on Kauai.” You are mostly right. There aren’t any trains for transportation, but there is one for a plantation tour.

All I ever do is talk about trains, cars, buses, and airplanes. I mention them every day, either when playing, reading books, spotting them in the wild, or just expressing my wishes. So I have been talking about this train ride for a long time. Daddy even made the mistake once of mentioning it while we were walking to school. I misunderstood and thought I would get to ride the train that day. I was so disappointed when I got dropped off at school and cried my head off when there was no train there.

I was very happy to finally be riding a train on Kauai! It was my first ride on a real choo-choo train! I thought it was awesome! The tour conductor talked about the plantation, the plants, and other facts about the island, but I wasn’t listening. All I cared about was the train.

The train made a stop to feed some animals on the plantation. There were a bunch of pigs, some cows, horses, and donkeys. I was not very interested in the animals. I came here for the train ride, not to see animals.

Mommy was pretty interested in the animals though.

I finally came around to the animals and was able to get close to a horse and feed a donkey that seemed harmless and friendly. It was kind of cool

But I came here for the train so I wanted to get back on the train.

It was a very fun train ride and I can’t wait to ride it again!
